Look at the bottom one 5.4L DOHC ALUM in a Mustang.
Probably a typo and the date corresponds to the Shelby. Maybe SVT has a trick up their sleeve.
BTW Mach 1s were underrated

No way will the 3v be replaced by the 03-04 Mach 1 motor, (which is all that motor is)
However what would be pretty cool would be to make a bare bones 23k4.6 LX with the 300hp 3v, and make the GT with a 4v and around 340hp for about 26k...
Just dreamin'...

yeah, i agree it seems kind of dumb for ford to spend all that R&D for the 3V only to replace it in 08. must be for an SE and it wont have 302 HP i would expect 350-375 atleast maybe an even 400 to bridge the gap between the GT and cobra

nahh they wanna keep the gap between these as moderate as possible soo people dont buy GT's and no cobra's at all. cuz u see how much more the cobra is and with the money saved u buy the GT and mod it....much faster than a cobra if u tweak it the right way
Great! I convinced myself to pass on the 06 for an 07. Now you are going to make me wait yet another year.
Started saving a few dollars each month for my new stang purchase. At this rate, I will have enough to buy it in cash.

All the work that went into the 3V, only to use it for 2 years? Doesn't sound likely.

It looks like the engine code was different than the Mach 1. Maybe this motor has VCT or a better intake.

If it has that I will be at least upgrading my Cylinder Heads to 4V that would be a lot of BIG power.
It would have been nice for a V-6, 210 hp, a V-8 non GT (around 280ish hp) and a GT with 320 hp.
IMHO, with Mr. Shelby back at Ford, don't see the need for a "COBRA" model( it came out after Shelby left the fold in 1970 and later on went to Chrysler for that charger).. Have the shelby instead...maybe more availability not this 2 per dealer and auctioning off crap.
How about a 4.6L factory Supercharger offering? have that a Boss or Mach or what ever....maybe a GTSC? and offer a factory approved S/C for the rest of us who wants to add it before our warranty expires.....Heck, I would let Ford do the install so I can have the warranty coverage.

Well it is official, I am never going to get a new car...
Ford, you are such a tease. Maybe I should just by my dream classic and by the time I finish actually working on the thing I will be able to get a new 'stang and stop telling myself to wait for X...

Amen to that. 200 less lbs of iron plow over the front wheels would suit me just fine...!
:spin: :drive: :headbang:
My guess, a Boss motor with perhaps 350-375 hp, bit more of a high-winder than the current GT motor and well in keeping with the character of the original Boss 302, being more oriented towards road racing.
Another guess, given the popularity of the Mach I, would be a 5.4 motor of some sort, either 3V (likely, "Cobra Jet") of 4V ("Super Cobra Jet"?). These would be oriented a bit more towards low end torque for drag strip and stop light racing.
Given the likely increased competition the Stang will be facing in a couple of years (new GTO, various Hemi powered DC vehicles, potential new GM F-cars sporting 6.0-6.2 (or even 7.0!) small-block varients, potential Japanese V8s), Ford would be well advised to freshen and gird the Stang for this competitive onslaught.
Now if Ford would actually executes the strategic insight to do this now while the going is good and easy for the Stang ... doubtful.
