94's had had the AODE. Sounds to me like the valve body might have a blown gasket

I'm suspecting that too. I'll try changing that to a newer version, along with the solenoids as well. On another forum I posted, some trans guys told me about the defects of that trans.
Valve body, oil pump stub shaft, solenoids and the overrunning clutch w drum, they said to upgrade to the 4r70w parts that bolt right in and are stronger 96 to 98, i think. With those upgrades they said the trans can support up to 400 hp with no problems. I'll take out the oil pan to take off the valve body and inspect it. If it's too much of a mess, then I'll take out the whole trans and rebuild it.
Wish me luck!

Do you think it'll be cheaper to just replace the entire unit with a performance unit?

No, those cost about $2000 - $2500, more than what i paid for the car. I've already checked that.

I'd expect $500-$1000, depends on parts prices and labor cost on things that need to be done with special tools I don't have, but my neighbor has them, so I wouldn't expect much on that also. I also want a good shift kit, to chirp tires on 2'nd at least.

Update

I went and used my last resort, Trans Magic. Have used the car for a day and the problem hasn't come back. I'll baby it to see what happens, and try to save some $ for the rebuild.
