AODE Tranny help!!!!!!
So, here I was cruising today enjoying a great sunny day on my 94 GT and reach a stoplight. When in goes green, I accelerate and VROOM, no forward motion, I close the throttle and then BOOM, drive engages. I continue with part throttle and everything goes fine then I give it a little more and again the trans. lets go drive again and no go, I ease the gas and then, boom, drive again. This only happens on Drive, because if I start in 1 or 2 it doesn't do it. I already changed the trans filter because it was the first thing to look for trouble, but I don't have any idea what the heck is going wrong with the stupid trans. only that it happens when the temp goes up.
Please, HEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm suspecting the valve body or the torque converter but I'm not really sure. Also I'll try using a trans cooler to see what happens. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

I wouldn't know what the problem really is, I'm not that good with transmissions. But I would wait to get the trans cooler until after a specialist looks at the trans. If it needs replacing, you'll be better off getting the trans cooler after all the work is done

I'm more confident working with manual transmissions, but have worked with my dad rebuilding some automatics, Mitsubishi/Chrysler fwd's however. They are very easy for the firs timers. I want to fix it myself if possible, so if anyone has an idea to where to look for the problem, I can start from there.
Thanks for your help in advance!

Well if you wanted to fix it yourself, I'm sure you could take it to the shop, say you want them to look at it, and when they explain the problem and how to fix it and show you the bill say "well thats too much for me to pay right now" and then go home and fix it yourself

Hey that's a very good idea! Long time I haven't done that. It has worked for me in the past, so I think I'll do it once more. It's a dirty trick, but anything goes in the "keep your money in your pockets" war!

Plus you get to learn
Watch out though, he might try to give you a deal I went to test drive a $32K Crossfire SRT6, when I said I didn't want it he kept marking it down, $27K, $25K. and all the way down to $20,000
I love my Bullitt far more than I could ever love that thing

Yeah, thats right. Something like that happened to me when I bought my Protege. The guy on the dealer was insisting on a black Honda Civic, but to his embarrassment the car didn't start due to an empty gas tank, so I walked away and found my car. They will try to sell anything! But if the trans shop gives me a VERY good deal I'll take it Also it would be a good time to put some serious shift kit on it

Update.
The problem has gotten worse. When it reaches normal operating temp I have to start on 2 so it won't slip out of gear, then when i start moving i shift into D and everything is normal. The thing happens when i accelerate from a stop. I rarely drive it anymore cause of this. I'll go out on vacation this 30 so I will have time to work on the stupid trans. Darn slushbox!

nah, that would cost as much or more than a rebuild. Unless I find a complete parts car for that, either for the 5 spd or the AODE. I read somewhere that my trans is a little longer than the Fox body ones. Does it mean I can't use one from an older Mustang/Tunderbird? What vehicles can I look for parts? I've seen around here C-4/C-6 swaps done for Fox bodies, Panthers and trucks, but not on SN95's, but this would be as a last resort, since without a fourth gear mileage will suck even more.

I don't think the older ones will work just right, after all the ones right before yours were not electronically controlled, hence AODE vs AOD..
I'm betting a rebuilt one, (or maybe even a performance version) would be the best way to go. Either way though, not cheap

I'm assuming you have a 4R70W. If that is the case, you are losing the forward clutch seal. The transmission needs to be rebuilt. Continuing to drive it will make things worse because the temp of the fluid goes way up when it slips. I would recommend a full rebuild, cooler flush, and a remanufactured torque converter.

Guess I'll have to wait till my vacations on the 31'st this month to take the thing out and rebuild/replace it.
