It is a decent deal. You could put it together for $400-500 or so, but would have to find the spindles in a junkyard, clean and recondition them, and locate all the other parts. This setup also includes milling of the rotor snout and caliper to make the original 14" wheels fit.

I personally don't like the idea of milling down the snout since this area supports the bearings and is designed for the load. Milling weakens the rotor hub. If you are going to use 15" or larger aftermarket wheels then there is no need to mill the snout.

By way of comparison, I sell an unmodified kit that includes everything in the listed kit plus outer tie rods for $575 + $75 shipping. No milling. Includes reconditioned spindles and dust shields, reconditioned loaded calipers, refurbed dual reservoir master cylinder, new hoses, new rotors, new bearings and seals, and hardware, new outer tie rods. Both of these kits require that the installer either modify or rebuild the brake hardlines. Otherwise the kit is bolt on easy.

I don't have access to any kind of metal machinery or even a garage I will be installing the brakes in the back alley of my apt. with jack stands so it has to be a direct bolt on or it's a no go for me...

man that is stupid mony for a granada conversion, you could almost do that whole kit with 2: dropped spindles from fat-mans for that kind of money, heck i think i could do the drop spindles and slotted rotors for less than that. trick sixty five, if you're willig to spend that kind of cash check out www.fatmanfab.com for the drop spindles and ebay for a company called "the mustang depot" "TMD" for short this is not the same mustang depot advertised in all the mags. you can get slotted granada rotors 99 bucks plus shipping which is like 30 bucks i think. the drop spindles from fat man are like 300 bucks i think, then all you need is calipers, pads, bearings and the caliper hardware kits which should run less than 100 bucks. you can also buy new disc brake spindles from some of the mustang suppliers for like 400 bucks and they are stock style parts. i guess what i'm trying to say is that if you are gonna spend that much i'd get new spindles as opposed to used ones

Fatman spindles for Mustang are $510 and that doesn't include dust shields. The poster wasn't asking about dropped systems or how much he could save by grubbing around town or the internet looking for parts. He appearently desires an all inclusive OEM type kit. The guy listing the kit on ebay is entitled to make something from all the effort and knowledge he put into the kit. Many people appreciate the effort and are realistic in their assesment of its value. Everything is easier to envision than to do!

well it's been quite a while since i checked the price on those spindles, i was simply suggesting that he could put together a kit on his own for quite a bit less than that. and personally i could give a rats' backside about the guys know how in putting that kit together it's still a granada system which can have negative effects on the suspension geometry in an early car. for that kind of money you can do many other things and get a better designed system, even if it is just stock replacement stang parts. in my opinion the granada system is worth no more than the cost of the parts regardless, so once again i say that is stupid money for a granada conversion kit.

I was told that no one could put together a decent disc brake kit for under a grand, and since I didn't want to spend that kind of money, I put one together myself for less that $700 using ALL '70 Mustang parts, which means its pretty much a bolt on kit, the only thing you have to change out (besides the spindles and such), is the outer tie-rod ends, you have to use the ones for the '70 spindles. You still have to make some brake lines, but with patience and a tube bender (in your hand), it can be done in about a day on jack stands

BTW, its a good deal, but you'll still be bending up some lines, and some people say you'll get bumpsteer out of the Granada set-up. If you stick with a stock type front end with smaller tires (225-60's) you'll be fine though. Its the people like myself, that want the most we can put on the front and push the car to the extreme that'll have the most issues with bumpsteer.

$1000 for Granada brakes?

Why not put the Rod & Custom kit on your stock spindles for a lot less?

Ok Am i looking at the wrong post that kit is only at 675. Didn't mean to get people all juiced up in here was just asking if thats a good kit. I am green going into doing this break job but can't afford 1900 for my machanic down the street to do it..So I am gunna attempt to do this myself with a mechanic freind of mine watching me.
I need to find a kit that is complete.

My mistake. I thought they had it BIN for $1000.

You could put factory discs or an SSB kit on there for around $1000 or less. The R&C kit that I referenced is $350 and comes with everything except the master cylinder and brake lines.

I've been trying to find that out too but have yet to find anyone using it that will give me any information. The kit uses 11" rotors and what appear to be GM calipers so replacement parts should be easy to come by. The caliper bracket is the only really necessary piece needed to put a kit together. All the other stuff can be store bought.

www.scarebird.com makes a bracket to adapt 79-85 E-body(Eldorado/Toronado) calipers, rotors and combo valve onto the V8 Mustang drum spindles for $75.
