Was that last pic after you sprayed the last coat of primer?

It looks pretty good! I like the wheels!

Yes, the last picture is from yesterday before I took it over to get another guide coat(black stuff in 1st picture) put on. I'm currently wet sanding the final coat of primer down with 600 grit sand paper to prep it for paint tomorrow.

I like the wheels, but now I feel like they are almost too small. So over the summer it might get another set of wheels, haven't decided yet. I'll have to wait and see how they look with some red on it. I think a set of anthracite Cobra Rs would look decent on it.

I didn't see any black stuff in the first pic. Kind of curious as to what a "guide coat" is?

Your wheels look good to me, I don't like 17 inch wheels on these older Mustangs. The tire is too low of a profile for me. I have 15's on mine and I didn't want to go any larger.

If you look at the hood, you will see what looks to be a bunch of dust. That is really a charcoal coat(guide coat) that fills in low areas and will not disappear until you have sanded it all away. This helps get your car straight and have little to no low spots.

Really? I had no idea so much work goes into a paint job!

Small wonder it costs so much!

Thanks for explaining that!

Yeah, I have about a total of 15 hours of sanding on my mustang the past 2 weeks. Also was given yet another delay. Someone didn't reserve the paint booth for me in time. So now I get to wait yet another week. This is getting ridiculous.

Sorry to hear about that. I was looking forward to seeing how your car turned out. But now you have more time for sanding! lol

I finished sanding 1 p.m. our time yesterday. I was so ready to get it painted too. However I do have another hood I need finished, so this gives me time to work on it.

You're going to put another hood on it?

I've got the black hood that is in our storage house out back. It is an original turn signal hood from 1968, and has holes for hood pins. I took it off to fix and never got around to it.

Wow! Now that looks good!

It really looks good! Almost makes me want to change from Rangoon Red to Candy Apple! lol

Can you give us another pic? This one a full side to show us your wheels with the new paint job? From what I can see they really go well together!

The wheels aren't very clean since I'm not allowed to use any kind of spray cleaner around it yet.
