Big Power Foxbody Is a Track-Ready Weapon Waiting Slay Anything

Big bore and stroke Foxbody on up for auction is a turn-key drag car in phenomenal shape. Are you ready to go racing?

It’s certainly no secret that the Foxbody Mustang is a popular platform for drag racing. Attend any drag strip on any given race day, and the chances of seeing a least a handful of them is pretty likely. Many Foxbodies these days are running more modern engine swaps. However, this particular one is a staple of how things were done in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Currently for sale on Cars and Bids (for a couple more days), this Foxbody drag car started life as a theft recovery vehicle. The seller bought the car in 1999 and spent years building it into what it is. That being the case, the starting point was a very clean car and remains so today. At the time of writing, the bid sits at only $12,500. Considering the modification list, that doesn’t seem half bad. Let’s take a look at what it’s got going for it.

Classic Foxbody Windsor Build

Under the hood of this Foxbody is a 351 Windsor that’s been bored and stroked to 418 cubic inches. It has an entirely forged rotating assembly and what are claimed to be “custom pistons.” Though, we aren’t entirely sure what to make of that. Additionally, it has a set of AFR heads, a Victor EFI intake, a custom-ground camshaft, MSD ignition, Pro-M MAF, an aluminum radiator, and an EEC chip in the ECU. Reportedly, the engine makes around 575 horsepower. Though, the seller provides no proof of this claim.

Putting the power to the ground is a 4-speed 4R70W automatic transmission with valve body modifications. It has a stallion torque converter, SFI flex plate, 3.90 gear set, Moser axles, and a Detroit locker.

Additionally, it features some suspension modifications to keep the grip as best it can. These modifications include a PA Racing K-member, Griggs Racing front A-arms, TeamZ front Coilovers, Strange adjustable shocks and struts, a bump-steer kit, manual steering conversion, and an eight-point roll bar. Finally, it has Maximum Motorsports upper and lower rear A-arms and a Maximum Motorsports anti-roll bar.

Nothing Left Alone, Inside & Out

Inside you’ll find Corbeau racing seats, a data-logging tachometer, aftermarket gauges for fuel, oil pressure, and temperatures. Additionally, it was repainted in Autumn Orange with the addition of an HO Fibertrends cowl-induction hood and matching trunk lid. It also has a cowl-mounted fuel pressure gauge. Finally, to add some modern amenities, it has a keyless entry system and a remote trunk release. Not too shabby for a race car!

It does have a few issues, though. One is the stone chips in the front bumper, which is to be expected. Additionally, the hood and trunk alignment is not correct, according to the listing. The seller also notes that the paint finish is a bit different on the hood and trunk as well. Finally, it has a small oil leak from the oil pan.

Overall, this car looks like a great time. Furthermore, it’s ready to rock and roll with its new owner. Given the branded title, it may not fetch as much as similar cars have in the past. However, we’re definitely curious to see how much this thing sells for.
