Here’s a tip. The next time you’re in need of a rental in a major city like Los Angeles, Miami or Houston, check to see if there’s a Hertz Penske GT Mustang available for your trip.

While we’ve yet to get our hands on one of the 150 models made, early indications from scouring the web are rain or shine the car is definitely a hit.

“Just off the hauler, and ready to go. Rent some fun,” says Jeffrey Johnson, after posting the above photo of the car on his Flickr account.

“We just rented this exact car from Hertz in Las Vegas,” comments a reader named, bunyk, on a recent Autoblog.com report about the car. “We took it to the Orange County Fairgrounds to go to a concert there. It is definitely an attention getter. A little pricey though. Wasn’t too bad on gas. Now we want one!!!”

“Very interesting ‘Hertz Penske Mustang GT’ spotted at Dulles Airport Hertz facility…Future collectible? #Ford#Mustang#Hertz,” Ralph Paglia, an automotive analyst, posted on his Intagram account  from the Washington D.C. area airport.

The Penske-inspired 5.0-liter Mustang GT, part of the Hertz Adrenaline Collection, is equipped with a number of performance upgrades including a quad-tip exhaust system, air intake and ECU tuning upgrade, 3.55 gears, and Brembo brakes.

Interior features on the rental-only ride include Black Recaro racing seats, Laguna Seca Gauge Pod and Ford’s touchscreen GPS system, which will definitely come in handy when seeking out those unfamiliar back roads to get a better feel for the car’s capabilities.

Exterior upgrades such as the Hertz yellow racing stripes, Boss 302 front splitter and GT500 rear valence gives you a lot more clout in valet than the typical Mustang loaner.

Cost? About $180 a day if you don’t exceed the 100 mile day a limit, but you had to figure that a rare rental like this wasn’t going to be cheap.

If you do happen to rent a Hertz Penske GT Mustang be sure to let us know what you think.
