Roush Stage 3 Mustang: Ultimate Rental Car

By -

Why go for an expensive airport rental when you can cruise around in a 1,200-horsepower Mustang for cheap?

Rental cars have a bit of a, shall we say, reputation. As in, they’re incredibly vanilla and boring. Choose the size or configuration you’re looking for, and you’ll be treated to rows upon rows of basic econoboxes and SUVs. Want something sporty? Chances are, your best bet is a four or six-cylinder powered Mustang. What you won’t get is something like this incredible Roush Stage 3 Mustang. Unless your YouTube handle is superspeedersRob, that is.

Rob found himself in a situation we’re all familiar with recently, but his outcome was much different than most. You see, he owns a C5 Corvette that’s getting worked on at LG Motorsports in Dallas, Texas. So when Rob headed down to check on the car’s progress, he needed a rental to tool around town in. But instead of dialing up Avis or Hertz, he hopped on Turo and scored this Roush Stage 3 Mustang, which reportedly pumps out 1,200 horsepower at the crank.

You see, there’s all sorts of interesting and unique rides on Turo. And it’s by design. The site allows folks to both rent their cars out to others and find interesting rentals, no matter where you go. But the most amazing thing about Rob’s experience is that his Roush Stage 3 Mustang rental only set him back around $200 a day. Compared to the $350 is was going to cost him at the airport chain joints.

As you might imagine, there are caveats. The owner of this car claims it has a chip that monitors for shenanigans. And engaging in such activities results in additional fines, plus replacement costs for broken parts. The tint and exhaust are also reportedly illegal. Still, we’d opt for something like this any day over your average, boring rental. And just consider any fines or tickets incurred as the cost of doing business.
