The Mustang Source idea was created in 2004 by founder Brad Barnett as a way to harness the excitement and news regarding the newly designed S197 Mustang platform but also to incorporate ALL Mustang variations so that we had a place where EVERY Mustang owner could share the hobby and new release of the latest Mustang. Brad brought on board Scothew(Scott Jackson) as his main computer guy to help design and run the site. Nathan, aka "Sendero" was also one of the guys involved in building the site. We had a management team that was unrivaled by any other site and The Mustang Source was born. I was asked to join since I was a technical guy since I operate a restoration & performance shop and I was in charge of putting together "The Source Horse"...brads 2006 Mustang GT Convertible. We did dyno testing before and after on parts, tested prototype parts and new offerings from various companies. We also had insiders at Ford who would get us news on the new cars before the general media got it. The members of the site were wide ranging from Ford engineers and race drivers, Ford Parts Guru KC and companies producing new products and countless members waiting on their ordered Mustang to arrive. Here we are 20 years later still active and with a large library of information and countless friendships built across the world. The Mustangs Coast to Coast thread has been one of the most popular showing how the hobby can build friendships and even a family atmosphere with people sharing things about their cars, even restaurants and personal journeys. We like to think we have built a place with something for everyone and it's not just about cars, it's about you...the individual owners. This hobby has not just been about the car, it's more than that...it's an extended family of like minded individuals. So 20 years in the making and still going strong, here we are looking at the latest S650 platform and all the technology we never thought possible just 20 years ago. This year also marks 60 years of the Ford Mustang and with all the other manufacturers discontinuing their Muscle cars it just goes to show how strong our enthusiasm is for the brand. We have lost some members over the years and others have moved on but their spirit still exists on this site. We also have members who have been here from the beginning and still active in the hobby, we hope you all will continue on with us as we move forward and continue the legacy of The Mustang Source Celebrating 20 years and moving forward.

Nice! Man, hard to believe it's been so long! I joined so long ago hungry for info on the S-197 and I want to say it was a set of early production drawings that led me here.

I Was All Set To Buy a Harley V-Rod For My Mid Life Issues and Caught Wind of a Retro Mustang Coming Out and I Could Not get Any Good Answers From My Own Ford Sales Information and Ended Up on TMS! After Joining I Figured Out How To Use a Back Door Parts Database Tied into Ford and Started Gleaning Advance Knowledge on Vehicle Features! We Had a Blast With The I Spy Info Many Times! I Got So Good FORD Came Unglued Two or Three Times and Had Me Pull The Threads. Best Example The Early Confirmation of The 5.0 Coming Back. I Will Have To Post Some Links in Here.

Truth Be Told We All Knew More Here Together About The New Car Than any Other Site in My Opinion! What a Roller Coaster Ride! We All Dug For Info and That Was What Was So Cool! Then I Get Invited To Sell Oem Parts & Aftermarket as Well! Ended Up Shipping Stuff all Over The Place! I Really Loved Talking To The Mustangers From All Over The Country, The UK & Gasp a Whole Body Order To Ukraine! Aye Carumba!

We Got all The Good Mods First Too! I Had The First Bama Tune & Cold Air For My 07 Gt-500 Just To Name One!

3 Sn-197s In A Row Ya I'm a Fan! Black 05 Gt, 07 GT-CS Roushcharged and Then Still My 07 Shelby Gt-500 With 34K on The Clock!

Congratulations to all who have been here and for keeping the forum alive. i have spent some serious time here over the years enjoying our Mustangs together.
My only wish would be for more members to take trips in their Mustangs or other sports/muscle cars. I get as much enjoyment looking at other's trips as my own,, plus it can give great ideas for future trips. Wanted33 is an example of leading me to many Rte 66 locations I was not familiar with.

This was THE PLACE to be for the S197 introduction. I can't believe it's been 20 years. And Kevin, you are among the most legendary of the forum users, especially with all the For parts help you offered. Thank you for getting back here to look at things again. You are THE BEST! I still have those on a CD somewhere. I seem to remember seeing some footage of the 05s coming off the line that wasn't authorized. I think that was here but it's been... 20 years or so, lol. I still have the Steve McQueen Keychain I had to have back then.

I Still Have Two of The Pony Keychains & The 2005 Ford Dealer New Car Mustang Intro on VHS. It Showed The Global Open Feature For The Windows Which I Wanted But Then Found Out You Had To get it With a Certain Option Which May Have Been The Upgraded Alarm or Maybe Something Else. Anyhoo When I Found Out I Had The Sales Manger Change My Order & That's Where Things Went Sideways as He Somehow Changed My Car From Stick to Auto and No IUP! I Discovered it Later When I Was Getting Build Doc's and They Ordered Another Car For Me. I Also Wanted The Light Blue at First But Not Knowing What it Was Going To Look Like Getting One of The Earliest Cars I Went With Black.

So Here is The Part of The Story I Never Told. The Wife Was Pissed At Me For Something and Had Packed up The Kids and Went To Mom's. Well The Misordered Car Came in and I Took It to Have an Excuse & Go See The Wife & Kids With The New Car! Well It Worked and We Left The Kids At Moms and Went Out for a Night on The Town & Got To Show Off The Car. I Will Never Forget Seeing Some Guy in a New Toyota Sticking His Head Out The Window of His Car While Driving Down the road and Screaming THE NEW MUSTANG, I COULD HAVE GOT ONE OF THOSE and He Looked So Disappointed at His Car Buying Decision! HA HA HA!

Also Since The Dealer Did not Have Any Mustangs on the Lot I got to Be in The Local Christmas Parade to Show off The Car! The Wife & Kids Went along For The Ride! No Junk on The Car Thankfully. The Cheers From The Crowd & Hearing Look at The New Mustang Was Pretty Cool! It Was a Hit!

So I Was Immediately Disappointed with The Non IUP Gauge Setup and Low & Behold The My Color Conversion Was Born and That Topic Just Keeps Going! I Updated the Shift Bezel By Painting it Silver and Getting The IUP **** Which You Could Get By Itself at First. Later The Shifter Slide Broke and I Just Got an IUP Shifter Under Warranty.

https://themustangsource.com/forums/...en-1-a-400516/

So Here is The Irony. The Global Window Feature Which Started This Mess Was Stillborn Anyway and Any Cars That Did Get it Were Deactivated For The Most Part! Had I Not Got That Non IUP Car a Lot of The Interior Mods Like The Cluster & A/C Vent Swaps Might Not have Been So Quick To Come Around! The My Color was and is a Big Hit and My Car Got To Be The Guinea Pig! Funny How One Choice Can Change So Much! Oh and For Those Who Don't Know The Global Window Feature was Hitting the Keyless Transmitter and The Windows Went Down. Well They Would Sometimes Just Roll Down When They Felt Like it Like When You Go into a Store and Come out With The Windows already Down! DOH!

KC

So I Encourage Folks To Dig Deep and Come Up With Some Tidbits You Have Not Shared Before or Anything Special You Can Share About TMS or Your Mustang Experience in General! As We Stroll Down Memory Lane More Things May Come To Mind!

I remember shortly after Brad Got Project Source Horse and I was installing gauges, I sent him this picture which completely freaked him out...LOL I'm sure wherever it is today it still has the SVP Sticker on the main support bar and the owner probably has no idea.

That Makes Me Think of What My Chest Must Have Looked Like When I Got The Double Bypass! A picture of That Would Make Blow Chunks in a Hot Minute!

I Can See Where That Dash Shot Would Scare Someone Pretty Easy! Reminds Me of When The Wife's Supercharged Harley Truck Blew a Sparkplug and Had To Have a New Head Put On! I Took a Pic of Her Truck With The Cab Up in The Air on The Lift and The Frame on The Ground and it Freaked Her Out Too! Can't Say I was That Comfortable about as Well.

Years Later an Intermittent No Start Would Occur on The Truck Which was Caused By The Pats Ring Wiring Getting Manhandled During the Head Replacement. When She Would get Out of The Truck and Flip The Tilt Steering it Would Not Start. I Would Come To Rescue Her And When I Would Adjust Wheel Back it Would Start. {UNKNOWING AT FIRST} I Always Left Wheel Alone when I Drove it So it Never Stranded Me! Just Goes To Show How a Repair Can Bite You in The Butt Years Later! Oh And The Tech Also Put The Exhaust Gaskets on Wrong & Started Leaking Years Later. One Exhaust Port Was Half Blocked Off!

Is That The Vin Stamped into The Lower Bar About Where Your Knees Would Be???

Good One Paul!

KC

You mean like this one? LOL. That's the ONLY way to do any kind of work on a Lightning or Harley Truck!
