Mustangs and Harleys

‘Horses and Hogs’ celebrates its 10th anniversary with live music, a poker run, a fundraiser & more, Aug. 4.

The Mustang got its name from the wild horses roaming free across the American West. Harley-Davidson motorcycles got their nickname from a team of riders from the American South who had adopted a piglet as their mascot. Both call to mind the spirit of America: freedom, rugged individualism, peace through strength, and pride.

And on August 4, 2018, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin will once again become the most American farm in the United States when Horses and Hogs returns to celebrate its 10th anniversary with Mustangs and Harleys galore.

Mustangs and Harleys

As the story goes, Horses and Hogs began in 2008 “after a Mustang enthusiast pulled up next to a guy on a Harley at a stoplight.” American pride swelled among the duo, “a thumbs up was exchanged and ideas became reality.” Since then, the annual gathering includes all Fords as well as Mustangs and Harleys for days. And of course, Horses and Hogs aims to “build camaraderie of American pride” while also working to raise money for those in the Greater Fond du Lac area who need the most help.

Under the name “Heroes, Horses & Hogs,” the annual gathering will be held at Open Road Harley-Davidson in Fond du Lac from 10 AM to 4 PM. Gates, vehicle staging, and registration open at 9 AM. Once the public is allowed inside an hour later, there will be a beer garden and soft drink stand operated by Salute the Troops of Fond du Lac, this year’s beneficiary of the event. The non-profit was founded by military veterans who wanted to help wounded vets through funding of programs and services made for said vets.

Other events on the schedule include live music, appearances by Miss Wisconsin and Miss Fond du Lac, awards, a poker run, and so much more. We can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than among several Mustangs and Harleys.

Pre-registration is $10, and proceeds go towards Salute the Troops, Inc. For tickets and other information, click here.
