Roush-supercharged Mustang GT Destroys Tuned Nissan GT-R

By -

Nissan’s GT-R might be nicknamed ‘Godzilla’ for its twin-turbo motor but even that can’t hold off a Roush-supercharged Stang.

Europeans have thoroughly embraced runway racing, and in this video, we see action from the Kiltsi airfield in Estonia. Boost is embraces as well, with this race featuring two heavy hitters. In the left lane, a tuned Nissan GT-R making 704 horsepower and in the right lane a Roush supercharged Mustang GT making 727 horsepower. Although the Mustang has a slight edge on power and the ability to put it down with an automatic transmission, it has one fewer drive axles.

That lack of a drive axle makes a difference when drag racing on a runway, as they aren’t as “prepped” as a dedicated drag strip. Again, this puts the advantage to the GT-R, but the results paint a different picture. The Mustang gets an excellent launch, and ultimately crosses the line at 11.735, besting the Nissan which managed a 12.003. Speeds were higher for the Mustang as well, at 123 mph, compared to 120 from the R35.

But the interesting thing about those numbers goes back to prep. At the very least, the new 2018 Mustang can cross the line at 115 miles per hour. It seems like the additional power didn’t actually do much to help in this instance. But we can only assume the surface was to blame here, because even the GT-R seemed slower than it should have been.

Observation of the drivers reveals that neither one of them fell asleep at the light either. Although a win is a win, the times here just don’t really add up. Other supercharged GT‘s are at least as fast as a ZR1 on the strip, which can pull 10’s and trap speeds in the 130’s. So is it just us, or should both of these cars be a bit more brisk than the video suggests?
