The TMS Dog Thread!
I know
I like to think I'm the boss but really I'm not
Ummmmm
She's drinking a relatively normal amount. Maybe a bit less than normal, but she is drinking.
She ate a bit of egg and a bit of unseasoned rice and ground beef yesterday. Not much though, less than a handful of each. She sat for about 20 minutes in front of her dog food bowl just looking at it.
This morning she vomited up about a quarter cup of what looked like mucus and bile. Wife had a scheduled doctors appointment at 8AM, and as soon as that's done she's taking the dog to the vet. We'll see where it goes from there.

That is so sad! Man I really hope she gets better. Let us know what's up when y'all get back from the vet

(Yes, I was teasing her about the tires in the house because of the temps)
Ok we get it. You have a Shelby. Geez!
Thanks, she's the bestest!

The news is not good.
Accute kidney failure. Her red blood cell count is low and the white blood cell count is through the roof. And she's severely dehydrated. They believe it's a leptospirosis infection, which can also be transferred to humans.
She's going to be spending the next 48 hours in the animal hospital on an antibiotic IV. Things are still touch and go. We're supposed to contact the hospital around 7AM and get an update. Hopefully she shows improvement by then.
Really sorry to hear that. I'll be praying for her.
I wish my boys would let me vacuum them! That's so cool

Ah man, I'm very sorry to hear that. That's really hard
I really hope she pulls through.

Thanks guys.
It's bad enough that my dog is so sick, now I've also got two emotional PMSing females in the house bawling their eyes out.
Think I'm going to make myself a good, stiff drink and find a nice corner to hide in.

Sad house right now. We miss our puppy. Especially my daughter. We got Athena for her birthday present. Until now they've been inseperable.
Happier times....

I'm so sorry to hear this. I didn't say anything earlier but I read all of it. It hurts my heart and I don't like to show too much emotion. As I've said on here before, I love dogs more than most people, because people suck.
I hope your baby gets better, I can't handle much stuff like this, especially with what I go through at this time of year, things really get to me. I may have to avoid this thread for a little while.

Got some good news.
They put her in the IV antibiotic and her temperature spiked up to 103.8. They didn't feel she was responding as well as they wanted so they tried a second IV with a different antibiotic coctail and her temperature started dropping. She's down to 102.5 now and they say she is improving.
They want to keep her on IV fluids and antibiotics for another day, but they said they believe we can bring her back home tomorrow. She's gonna live!
