The TMS Dog Thread!
2 weeks after the big crisis and almost dying, Athena just wanted to say thank you for all of the well wishes, and she wanted to let all of you know that she's feeling MUCH better. She's regained almost all of the weight she lost, her energy levels are back to normal, ears stand up high, tail wagging, she's doing great.

Strange thing though. She still cannot bark. All that comes out is a little wheezy squeak.

Yeah, we had one last scare. When we brought her home the big worry was her eating. I got her started eating boiled chicken breasts and some baked chicken livers. She ate reasonably well the first two days, but then she stopped eating. We were just discussing taking her back to the vet when my daughter offered her a french fry and she snagged it like she was starving.
I then offered her a piece of ham, and she ate that right up. Clearly the problem wasn't that she getting sicker, she was just being a picky eater.
Normally all she eats is dry dog food which she wouldn't touch. I got the brilliant idea of getting some canned dog food to see if she would eat it. She ate 3 large cans in 2 days. Since then she's been eating a combo of the wet and dry dog foods and eating very well.
I probably have the only dog in the world that would turn down fresh, real chicken breasts and chicken livers for dog food. But since she started eating she's made a huge improvement.
The only thing really wrong with her know is her inability to bark. She tries, it just comes out like a little squeak. It's really sad and I can tell that she doesn't feel as powerful and intimidating as she used to. She's reluctant to bark at other dogs walking down the street now. I'm still hoping that's just a temporary thing and it will eventually return to normal, but with no improvement in 2 weeks I'm starting to give up hope that she'll ever bark right again.

She has several normal spots depending on who she wants to be near. HER spot is a kennel in my bedroom. That's where she goes when she wants to be left alone or to sleep. At the time I was sitting in my study on my PC and she's across outside the room and across the hall. I keep my DSLR in the study so I just decided to turn around and take a quick picture.
Looking back I should have taken the time to meter the light better and manually focus. It's overexposed and focused on the banister post instead of her.
