2019 GT roof dent repair

Hi All,

So, a tree fell on the Mustang the other day. 2019 GT/CS. Picture below.

Any advice or words of wisdom from your experience before I take it to the body shop(s) for an estimate(s) after the weekend? Advise other than to wash it of course. Haven't done that yet. Kind of like pouring salt in the wound to wash that big dent. The rest of the car appears unharmed. Roof rails look OK. Glass looks good. Hood and trunk lid are dirty but intact.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome,

@19CaliSpecial

Sorry to Hear of Your Misfortune! I Think One of The Best People To Answer This Would Be The Other Admin Who Owns a Restoration Shop. It Might Be Helpful To Know Who & What Insurance is Covering This. Auto or Homeowners Etc. What Are Actual Circumstances?? Your Home Etc. Also What State are You In??

Some Front & Rear Shots and Shots Close Up of Creases Maybe Be Useful.

Probably a Bit Large For a Painless Dent Service But The Thought Crossed My Mind!

Sending Out a Page. It Maybe Tomorrow or Later Before He Answers!

Trying To Ask Questions I Think Paul May Ask To Save Time For You!

KC, thank you for your reply and condolences.

That's my tree in my driveway so....my car insurance. Homeowners policy won't cover it.

I've already contacted a PDR guy in the area (Myrtle Beach, SC general area), waiting for a reply. I plan to go to a body shop tomorrow to get an estimate, then decide what to do after that. I was curious if anyone could tell from the photos if the damage might be repaired with a paint-less dent repair or not. I don't want to think of the worst case scenario like major repair or even panel replacement.

Thanks again.

Did Not Look Near as Bad in First Pics! Anyhoo We Shall See! I Think Paul Will Have a Better Informed Opinion With The Additional Pics.

I Had a Similar Situation But Had Moved Car Night Before & Just Lost Canopy. It Was Neighbors Tree and His Homeowners Covered it Along With Mine We Both Had Same Carrier. I Talked New Home Owner Years later To Remove That Tree So Thankfully I Don't Have To Deal With That Particular Tree Next To My Driveway Anymore.

The remainder of that tree was taken out the next day. It will never hurt anyone again. If the car guys are as good as the tree guy was, then all will end well. Thanks for your help.

I am not an expert, but that looks like a good candidate for paintless dent repair to me

maybe you can get the rear window tint redone while you're at it

You are correct about the window tint. I knew someone would point that out. That's been on the list for a while. Before the tree damage, that ugly bubbled-up window tint was the only blemish on the car, no dings, dents, scratches or rock chips anywhere.

I have contacted two local Paint-less Dent Repair companies about the job. I'll post pics of the results if one of them can and does fix the damage. Thanks everyone.

It is always sad to see a good looking Mustang like yours take a dent, but a dent from not even driving it is even worse. Hope this works out in your favor!

Also, might check with the company who did your rear tint. Mine was doing that and it had a life time warranty for the original owner at install. Got it fixed for no cost. Always a win.
