Glass roof option Heaveir or lighter ?
Yeah, they're not removing the heavy parts of the roof (structural pillars, et cetera) for the glass panel anyway, just the thin sheet metal spans.
My completely uneducated guess is the glass roof by itself will add 20-30 lbs to the car. It's not rotational mass though - just offset it with an aluminum driveshaft and you'll come out way ahead.

Here's another option - inside the window - I got mine off of a salvage Cadilliac - don't remember the model - sorry
Thanks guys. Yup... that's the CDC GlassBack. I had it installed through my local dealer who inturn used Webasto here in Southern California. It cost about $2700.00 installed (not including tax). Too bad it doesn't make the car go any faster.
Since it's a weekend driver, it works great for me.

The glass roof will be heavier. This extra weight on top will raise the center of gravity of the car. If everything else is the same (and its not), a vert will have the best cornering, followed by the metal roof version, and the glass roof will suffer from the most body roll. Just my $0.02.
It's not all just about weight. The structural integrity is compromised on the 'vert, they did take extra steps to brace it, but it is still different. The coupe's roof acts as a giant strut-tower brace and actually helps handling.
To strictly compare the coupe with the glassback, I would have to say that the center of gravity of the glassback would be higher. If Ford were to produce a carbon fiber roof (like on the new M3), this configuration would have a lower center of gravity than the metal roof. But ofcourse you can't see out of carbon fiber.
You totally had my hopes up for a second.
And I highly doubt the type of person who puts this on will take it to the track enough to notice a measly 25-40 lbs on the roof.... Second of all, there's things besides body roll that should be addressed in the suspension anyway, and if I put a glassback on... I might just go all the way and put a Griggs Racing system in. = ) Maybe I should actually buy my lotto ticket before spending the winnings though....

I have a hard time believing that so many seem to have such a hard time grasping the concept that a glass roof does not change how hot it gets in the car dramatically.
EVERY CAR HAS WINDOWS, people act like the roof panel is just clear glass, do the same folks work in closets in fear that they will burst into flames at their desks at sunset? Only thing I've noticed is that the car is a touch warmer on sunny winter days. Nobody with a CDC roof, an Edge vista roof owner, or other big moonroofs like the subaru outback or mini cooper EVER complain about it being too hot.

But two points:
(1) as far as I recall, the CDC kit does not have a 100% roller sunscreen block.
(2a) recent health studies have found that a claim that something blocks 100% of UV light is a worthless claim indeed. When the product says that, it is blocking all UV "A" light and very little UV "B" light. Guess which is worse on your skin: A or B.
(2b) believe it or not, there are some people who are allergic to sunlight. Health concerns are valid and those people are advised to never ever set foot in a new Mini Cooper with a factory panoramic sunroof.
Ever.
That is truly the light that blinds.
