Rear one or the 1/4 windows ?

When i org. bought the car it didn't have the side louvers, so that was the first thing i had to add.
It came with the rear ones,Only reason i keep them on was because it was a black car (black on black) seems to always look good..

 

Both, though I was for the rear ones!!

I HATE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS!!!!

It takes ages for the shop to modify the car to get the AOD to fit. Fine.

The tranny starts to slip a little, but theres no major issues with driveability. Fine.

Working the pedals becomes hard with Arin's shoe size, sicne the tranny tunnel was beaten up a bit. Fine.

Arin drives Fiona around the block for the first time in over a month and the AOD decides to spill "blood" everywhere after the trip, wherein the car never exceeded 5-10 mph. NOT FINE!

Everything seems to want to break on this car. As soon as i aquire the technical know how or come upon circumstance to fix one problem, another arises. I guess it's her way of making sure I don't stop learning about how cars work. I've got engines down, along with tire fitment and steering. Time to learn transmissions I guess

My dad did seem to like the idea of a hi-po AOD installed

Not to mention some nice deep dish pizza out back..I'm soo jealouse!

 

Was the fluid from the lines/fittings going to the trans? Dipstick tube? Tailshaft? Or pan gasket? Maybe the torque converter wasn't properly seated during the transmission install. Whatever the case may be, it still sucks. At least the AOD is a completely mechanical trans, which makes rebuilding a bit easier? Time to hit up the web for some cheap trans mods while you're at it! (ie. servos, bands, etc.)

As for the cycle of parts breakage, it comes with the territory when dealing with older cars or parts with a largely unknown maintenance history. As long as you're okay dealing with these "learning opportunities" you'll be alright. Sometimes isht happens.

 

I am going to take it to a transmission specialist next time my dad and I have some free time. We'll find out exactly whats up (or down) and decide how to deal with it from there.

either way.. it sure was nice to hear that 302 today its not quite the same as a 4.6, especially with the lack of real exhaust lol

 

I think Ford made a conscious effort to make the 4.6 sound sort close to their pushrod 302 V8 (especially with aftermarket exhaust) when they switched the Mustang to the modular. At least I hope they did. Maybe you can "take it to" Baumann or Lentech and see what they can do with it? LOL.

It was just nice to hear something that had been long absent.

Though, this brings up a flaw both 'stangs have... There is no way in hell I'll ever be able to sneak out at night unnoticed lol

 

I have heard some nasty near stock 4.6's with main mod being exhaust,so your 100% right saying that !
Love the way a OHC 4.6 w/ cams sounds !

Nice to hear that your Dad's getting into the Stangs Arin. Hopefully it makes things easier for you in the future.

 

It really is cool to have someone else in the house finally interested in the cars. My dad's always trying to understand things about cars and about the hobby, so maybe this is a way for us to spend some more time hangin out and doing car stuff. It'll be fun

 

Welp, I finally did it. I bought stock Mustang II V8 manfolds lol. ran me about $75 with shipping. god bless ebay. They are very ugly right now though, tons of surface rust, no functionality issues though. Gonna grind it down and paint it with some high temp paint.

 

Still no grinder from my buddy, but since its news, towing her to a shop today to get tranny work done. I have a feeling SVOPaul was right with the incliniation that I am low on fluid. I just hope fixing my leak isnt too much and that the leaking in and of itself hasnt caused more problems
