I've been smelling smoke every since I got back from the Gulf. Guess I'll be smelling it even more when I go to Gatlinburg in a few weeks. Sad situation up there.

Yes, but just over the ridge (mile or so as the crow flies) in Wear's Valley they're saying at least 70 houses/cabins burned. Gonna be a shock seeing so much stuff gone, like this....

Went from drought and wildfires in the woods, to towns burning, now we're having flash floods. Had tornadoes all around my area last night, just to the west across the Alabama line and just to my north in Tn, 5 people confirmed killed so far, lots of stuff destroyed. I got lucky again, gonna run out one of these days I'm sure.
Just got an update from a friend up there, latest news they're getting from local officials is 7 dead now and at least 700 homes/structures destroyed, and they've only been able to physically check about 30% of the area so far.

That is so beyond sad. So much craziness. That was a beautiful house too. Glad you made it out ok!

Local people already helping each other out. Just saw this release from Dolly Parton...

That’s why I’ve asked my Dollywood Companies – Including the Dollywood Theme Park, and DreamMore Resort; My dinner theater attractions including Dixie Stampede and Lumberjack Adventure; and my Dollywood Foundation to help me establish the “My People Fund.”
We want to provide a hand up to those families who have lost everything in the fires. To aid in their recovery effort, the Dollywood Foundation will provide $1,000 a month to all of those families who lost their homes in the fires for six months so that they can get back on their feet."
