Thankfully not here.
I don't think there's anything around here that could **** me up like a bear could.
Probably a wild boar might be the biggest nuisance/predator. There's alligators I guess but I live at least a couple of miles from those. Bobcats? Got those around. Not worth shooting. Besides they eat cats and little dogs so they're kind of good. Stupid cats.

He thought he saw a bear a day before he was "attacked" by it, I understand if your kids were outside and there's a bear out there, but if you thought you saw a bear ( or more likely in Texas some kind of Venomous snakes) today, and then tomorrow you still let them go out there without making sure it's safe, well something bad might/will happen. I would keep my kids inside for a day or two until I made sure there were no bears any where near by.

When they become a problem is when people start feeding them and they start losing their fear of humans by coming up to houses and rummaging. Nuisance bears like that are the ones you have to watch, especially when they have cubs. Of course a lot of that has to do with people encroaching on their habitat and building big subdivisions deeper and deeper into their area. Lots of houses = lots of food and trash.
If they become regular visitors its best to call DNR to put out some traps and relocate them. They'll tag them and relocate them to another area. If they start doing it again and they've already been tagged they'll put them down usually.
The population is growing, they've raised the hunting limit to 2 (no females with cubs, or cubs under 75lbs. )
They killed a ****load this past fall season.
