Now that's the answer I can relate to.
Wouldn't mind a FULL terminator notch swap myself.

I hope I will someday have as much experience in Mustangs as you Paul My experience so far is a '04 V6 and a 2011 V6 vert. That new V6 is no slouch, but it feels so disconnected. The 04 feels like it's connected to the road, and the '11 is like it's just floating on top of it. Which seems fully backwards to me because the '11 is better in every aspect pretty much

that's pretty much my thoughts on the New Edge vs S197 platforms. When Sophia was totalled I could have bought a newer car, but for me, I just felt to distant, in Sophia I feel like I'm part of the car, I'm totally in control, and I can sense how close she's getting to the edge. All of those feelings I dont feel in the newer cars.

I think it's what you guys are more used to.

True the S197 is more refined for the street. Much more than my 442 4spd Hurst was, and much more than my F150 4sp w/3.73's (I'm only speaking of the drive train and shifting - obviously the ride on those older vehicles can't compare).

But as for the shifter - at least the improved 08 B shifter, I love it. That it is a 'remote shifter' it has the same feel as my Jensen-Healey/Lotus tunnel mount shifter had. Without gear vibration in the cabin or notchy shifting.
And I've always been surprised that the Bullitt's shifting is so similar. The shifting is identical to my last road warrior. I have 15 yrs and close to 100k in the J-H/L and 4 in my Bullitt - on my same favorite 2 lane mountain roads. I am right at home.

As for 2 lane twisties, I am in TOTAL contact and control. I have never felt more confident - even with about 1500# more weight than the Healey. Great balance - providing you are under mild acceleration (at least neutral at a minimum if you're on a downhill curve) for weight transfer, and in the proper gear for the curve so you are solidly in the power band - 45-6500 range but best around 5k up.

Yet I am not in a raw, over stiff ride slamming my back and a cabin full of road noise. No way would I trade for a Fox or a SN95 for a road warrior. And wasn't the SN95 really the Fox platform?

The bottom one is the MT-82. The shifter is not bolted into the trans like the top pic.

I have driven a 2v and a 3v and I found the S197 more refined, it obviously had more power but the 3650 is smoother and slightly less notchy than the T-5 it transmits a bit less road noise than the new edges and the suspension was heads and shoulders above the new edge in terms of confidence in going around a turn fast. I just didn't feel as confident in the new edge as I did the S197, I can't say for a V6 new edge how it felt as a whole since I never drove one before. Not to mention the interior od the S197 feels a little bit less cheap and outdated to me and imo the seats are much more comfortable. That being said I wouldn't not get a new edge if I was looking for a mustang I just prefer the S197 platforms. IMO the only edge the sn95 platforms have is the exhaust sound.

new edges ftw

been in a foxbody and liked the small size and that such a small car can be customized to put out so much power sounds awesome, but the fact that they are just getting older and the amount of money that needs to be dumped into it just feels like a waste to me since i wouldnt want a racecar, i just want a really fun car to drive...

i have driven and been in a new edge and love it, i could care less about the interior, the sound and the sleek design and just the overall opinion of it =

the s197 to me just feels like a boat, too big and bulky for me and i have been in both a coupe and a vert and both are just too much for me...

thanks! 5 days off will be nice.

Out of the five mustangs I have owned the Boss is the most fun. The two Sixxers were ok and the vert was a nice island car for a little while. The 05 was fun and I bet Steffers would agree, similar set up as mine was.

I feel pretty confident taking turns in my GT. I've freaked my dad out on several occasions. Of course he's used to driving a truck that can't turn for crap, and I've never really driven anything better.

same way with my parents. I routinely take this one turn about 45mph, and my mom flipped out on me. I was like "you know I could probably take that at the better part of 60, right?"

You like to say that. And perhaps that's because the 3V has enough power and fuel efficiency that the Mustang didn't have to be stuck with the size of an import.

Though a Mustang lover for years since HS, neither the Fox or the SN95 opened my wallet new or used. But I'm glad that many others liked it and kept production going for 901 to arrive.
