Mornin.btw Al, I remember you posting a question/comment some time back about axle backs.
Talking to an old guy 'Mac' who just sold his shop after 30 years of doing mufflers for auto's, hotrods, etc.; I asked how come today's axle backs sort of have have that nasal sound and not like 'back in the day'.
He said "you need some length of tailpipe after the mufflers to get the sound right. Many a hot rod and muscle cars had glass packs midway back and then tailpipe the rest of the way out the back."

Its not that bad now. Don't need them in the day. But can't sleep on side yet so after 3-4 hrs on back I've got to get a pill to finish the night. Once it kicks in its smooth sailing.
Had a musician buddy come out yesterday with his grandson to help feed horses and pizza etc. He couldn't believe how fast I'm healing and it hasn't been 2 weeks till tomorow am. Like hearin' that stuff!

Glad you're doing better Charlie. And yeah 05up don't have the tailpipes after the mufflers. Wouldn't mind hearing a set of race bullets before the axles and pipe the rest.

I forget who makes a set of mid pipe exhaust but I'd like to hear in person to see if it has the rumble from back in the day. Or just put some glass packs at mid pipe and run the tail pipe like you said. Mac made it sound like a simple fix to axle backs.

But instead of 'flakes' of hay we cleaned up the loose stuff off the barn floor. So the kid pushed 7 wheelbarrow fulls to 7 of the horses. He worked up an appetite and bet he crashes well tonight!
