Does anyone here know anything about IRA's? I am currently trying to decide between who to go with for an IRA either Vanguard, Merill Lynch or T Row Price. I figure depending on what the expected ROR is I should have $1,200,000-$1,700,000 with the $5,000 a year contribution I am able to make a year.
The way they diversify the money is mostly the same with 89% in stocks and 9.99% in bonds Vanguard has some in other short term reserves which I assume are aggressive but I haven't been able to find any info on this part. Also as I get older I assume that whoever I go with will automatically change the stocks from an aggressive to a mild to a conservative stock or would that be something I decide when to do it? I have been looking at how they diversify the funds and according to T Rowe Price they beat the 5 year lippier average for a majority of their IRA options which I know doesn't guarantee success but it just shows that they have a good track record when it comes in which stocks to allocate the money in.
I also plan to have other assets for this such as a house and some safe stocks that will hopefully mature over time as well as some collectibles (baseball cards, coins, money, gold etc.) so counting on an IRA wouldn't be my only pony just really lost right now as to what to consider.
I know that a bunch of you guys in this thread are smart and may be able to help steer me in the right direction since I am kind of at a standstill right now since I don't know enough about this stuff.
