The way they diversify the money is mostly the same with 89% in stocks and 9.99% in bonds Vanguard has some in other short term reserves which I assume are aggressive but I haven't been able to find any info on this part. Also as I get older I assume that whoever I go with will automatically change the stocks from an aggressive to a mild to a conservative stock or would that be something I decide when to do it? I have been looking at how they diversify the funds and according to T Rowe Price they beat the 5 year lippier average for a majority of their IRA options which I know doesn't guarantee success but it just shows that they have a good track record when it comes in which stocks to allocate the money in.
I also plan to have other assets for this such as a house and some safe stocks that will hopefully mature over time as well as some collectibles (baseball cards, coins, money, gold etc.) so counting on an IRA wouldn't be my only pony just really lost right now as to what to consider.
I know that a bunch of you guys in this thread are smart and may be able to help steer me in the right direction since I am kind of at a standstill right now since I don't know enough about this stuff.
Thank You for any help you can give me.

to be honest Sean, the best thing you can do is read up on it. The terms of these can get very confusing if you dont know what you're reading.
As with anything retirement oriented, the earlier you can get started the better.
As for who to go with, as a tax preparer, I dont seem to see any real favorite between the 3, they seem to be evenly spread out.

Evening folks.
Took the navi out for a off-road spin today. Just ran out a dirt road about 10miles. Few good hills and gravel and all. nothing major. just wanted to find a place to put it in 4wd low and make sure it got some use in it since its prob never been in that range. It did flawless even though 4wd prob wasnt even needed.

Sounds to me like you're talking about 'Life Strategy' or 'Target Retirement' type funds where they automatically adjust the asset allocation according to your age bracket. Or you choose one that matches your age bracket and risk tolerance.
I love VG. I don't use those automatic funds as I'm more proactive, but asset allocation according to age is a pretty successful strategy over time. Still a roller coaster, no guarantees. Gotta be long term, invest regular, and let it compound.
And is this an employer type plan (401k/403b) where you contribute monthly and don't have to meet VG's 3k minimum?
VG's stuff about low fees is true. It adds up. Great list of index funds. I use their ETF's thru a brokerage account where many of their funds are commish free.

So we took a little trip today. And the little ones have those headrest tv screens in the car and we were looking for all the headsets before we left.
So Zoe and Lauren are in the middle and back rows and I tell Zoe to look up under the seat.
She's like where's that?
I'm like it's up under the seat?
She's like that's not a word Dad.
I'm like yes it is. Up under. Look up under the god **** seat!
