I don't golf, and I only have 2 rolls of tin foil which wouldn't be nearly enough for the job.

Its weird how random it is. The storm has already passed, its barely sprinkling, the wind has died down, and you don't even really hear any thunder rolling in the distance. Then just out of nowhere it strikes really close, then nothing for 15-20 more minutes.

Not to mention that I'm getting scared of it for some reason. When I was younger, I loved storms and would stay out and watch and try to take pics. For some reason as I've gotten older (especially the last 4-5 years) the lightning freaks me out worse and worse. I don't really understand it, I don't know if I'm getting wiser, or if I'm just appreciating the time I have left more and realize its running out and there's no need to take chances with it for nothing.

That's good. Doesn't look too bad, about like my Exploder did. I've seen much worse. You were lucky.

Ok, next time you're going out and facing your fears. (and getting some sweet video of the storm for me)

I'm tellin' ya... one of these days these dictators in their ivory towers are going to pay...

4.4.11

Dear Senator Whitsett:

I am sick of the Governor's office dictating from his cushy warm office for Oregon Counties that still have ongoing dangerous winter weather. Why can't der fuhrer Kitzhaber allow some County flexibilty for safety rather that risk lives on a State wide ban?? Any blood is on the State Governments hands.

Disgusted with Salemites,

C.C.

Studded tires: still OK in WA, not in OR
OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- Washington Transportation Department officials say studded tires are OK for one more week - through April 14 - due to continued wintry forecasts. Oregon Transportation Department officials say their state's drivers had better have those studs off by Tuesday.

Washington's extension is the second one-week reprieve. Studded tires are legal in Washington from Nov. 1 until March 31, unless the deadline is extended. State officials say forecasts call for continued winter driving conditions across Washington mountain passes and in higher elevation areas of Eastern Washington.

Oregon officials say that state's forecasts don't warrant further extension of the deadline. They suggest travelers use traction tires or chains if needed - or stay home until conditions improve.
317 PM PDT MON APR 4 2011

...A COLD STORM MOVES IN WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY WITH LOW SNOW LEVELS AND FROST-FREEZE CONDITIONS INTO LATE WEEK...

A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH SOUTHWEST OREGON LATE WEDNESDAY WITH MUCH COOLER THAN NORMAL TEMPERATURES...GUSTY WESTERLY WINDS AND LOW SNOW LEVELS. SHOWERS AND SNOW SHOWERS ARE THEN EXPECTED TO CONTINUE WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

SNOW LEVELS AROUND 2500 TO 3000 FEET ON WEDNESDAY ARE FORECAST TO FALL TO BETWEEN 1500 FEET AND 2000 FEET WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY MORNING. THIS WOULD RESULT IN LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS ON THE I-5 PASSES BETWEEN GRANTS PASS AND ROSEBURG...ON HIGHWAY 199 AT HAYES HILL... AND AT CAMAS MOUNTAIN ON HIGHWAY 42.

THERE WOULD ALSO BE AN ACCUMULATION OF 3 TO 8 INCHES OF SNOW AT THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS...AND 2 TO 6 INCHES ACROSS NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AND SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON FROM WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY WITH A MAJORITY OF THE ACCUMULATION FALLING DURING WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

TEMPERATURES WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY ARE FORECAST TO BE 10 TO 15 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. FROST AND FREEZE CONDITIONS WILL THREATEN SENSITIVE VEGETATION IN THE LOWER WEST SIDE VALLEYS DURING THE LATE NIGHT AND EARLY MORNING HOURS THURSDAY INTO SATURDAY.

STAY TUNED TO YOUR NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND LOCAL MEDIA
SOURCES FOR FURTHER UPDATES.
Copied to my State Senator. (not that it will do any good)

It didn't seem like a very big deer. I was on a four lane highway divided by a concrete barrier. I was in the right lane, and I saw a deer on the right shoulder, so I let off the gas, (no brake) and moved over a half lane just in case it decided to dart in front of me. About that time another one jumped over the concrete barrier and into my lane. Carnage. I was doing probably 60 and just plowed right into it. Most of the damage appears to be in the grill/hood area. Looks like the radiator was pushed back and it was bleeding all over. Its an '05 with 136,000 miles on it... I don't know how much damage it was or how insurance companies work...

One thing I do know... It felt like a pot hole. Ford built one heck of a safe vehicle.
