This is my sub:
http://www.shopping.com/xPO-Pioneer-TS-W28C
Would it be bad to run 150-175 watts RMS through it? Says it's rated for 120, with a 400w max
And why is there like cotton fluff all up inside this box? It makes no sense to me, but it is very well shaped to the inside of the box, like it was planned

I like the padding because it makes for easier pushing...
Oh wait you mean the sub box.
It serves many functions not the least of which is to stop all those God awful bouncing echoes inside the box. Plus it can help fool the sub into thinking it's in a slightly larger box. I do use it, even if it's only a few inches thick, it does not take away from airspace.

Also Gary is right, the cotton filler makes a box seem larger than it is. Reason being is the cotton slows the air movement down inside the box on each percusion of the sub. Some say it gives louder bass.. i personally never noticed as I always went for SQ in setups I did.
