My "new" junkyard tach works! Put in the one from the '91, works like a charm. I always thought I was over revving a bit... Turns out where I thought was a little too high is only 2200 rpm lol. The gas gauges don't work though, I can move the needles to full, start the truck and it brings back to empty... Whatever, 1 out of 2 aint bad

I'm sure it need a sender, and that could be a real PITA with a truck that old. I'm sure the tank straps are a little rusty.

I figured it was too. That was common on Fords in those years. My 91 Exploder did it at about 150k. Probably right about the tank straps, but the good thing is that its a truck. About 6-8 bolts, filler neck, unplug the lights and a couple of friends and you can lift the bed off in 15 minutes and get to the top of tank to fix it. Much easier than dropping a tank.

Probably. It doesn't bother enough to want to go in my tank and fix it. When the fuel pump dies, it'll get fixed then. I ain't taking my bed off and cracking open my gas tank to replace that. And while I'm at it I'd might as well redo the whole rear tank, as it never registered either. As it stands now, I've done all I care to do to fix that

ugh, stupid computer! Office Depot guy said the best way to fix it would be to do a system reset, I can't think of the real term, but basically wiping the thing down. They want $120. Someone tell me how to do it myself, haha!

And speaking of F150s, as you all probably don't know, my gas gauge and my tachometer are broken. So today, I ran off to the junkyard and got new gauges Couldn't disconnect any clusters, but the gauges have all the equipment behind them, they aren't just the faces. Got a full set minus speedometer from an '87, and a '91. Here's to hoping they work! I like knowing what my engine is doing... and pictures are here too

The one's on top are the '87 gauges, the bottom set are from the '91
Works for me ...... Nice to meet you F150 driver Sean

Don't quote me on this but I think if you can find a CD that Microsoft sells for either Windows XP, Vista or the Windows 7 I think it wipes out the old one and re installs the operating program but don't quote me on that lol

Nope, you're wrong. Brand name computers don't ship with Windows CD's any more. It's on a hidden partition on the drive and you usually have the option to make your own restoration CD.

If you don't have a CD, all you need to do is boot up into the recover partition and select a factory restore and that puts the computer back to how it was when it was bought.

Actually Michael J Fox is a real decent person to meet , as he is from Burnaby BC. Adam West will be at a sci-fi thing in Toronto next month no need to meet him.

Yep... no sicker feeling than clicking 'yes' to 'are you sure you want to format C: drive?'

Hopefully you've backed up your own stuff. Wmart online has a WD 1TB ext hard drive for $75 that backed up my 23 yr/30gb of personal data/pics in about 15 mins. It would have taken 7 dvd's and hours... Heck there's enough room that I could back up my entire system with all the programs (good thing because my HP has software preloaded but no dvd-roms. And I've tried to burn them a dozen times but it won't for some reason! grrr).

I haven't had any virus problems for 7 or 8 years when I finally learned (the hard way) to update the virus engine daily and scan nightly. Prior to that enlightenment, I had 4 viruses over the years where I had to reformat the hard drive and start over. Takes me about 30 days to get it back to where I want it because after loading all the programs again, then there's all these updates that have to be downloaded. And I can't just sit there all those hours in a row.

Sometimes the shops will include most of your pre-loaded software in the price.

So, tomorrow my truck is getting a brake inspection. For tomorrow to get to work I'm using Pete's (the mechanic) old S10. It's a little baby truck!
