Even though the track of the coming storm isn't certain, it's probably time to start thinking about changing your travel plans. Right now it looks like snow will gradually become heavier by Wednesday night. As we get closer to the arrival time, rain is becoming more likely as far north as Rochester, and we might even get sleet mixed with snow right here in the Twin Cities metro area. Travel by air and by ground will be slowed at the very least, with a definite possibility that both modes of travel will come to a standstill by late Christmas Eve. Temperatures will be mild as we head into the Holidays, with highs each day in the upper 20s to around 30. The total snowfall expected through Saturday will probably range from 12 to 20 inches in central and southern Minnesota. Make sure you check out the 'NEW' interactive radar map. Just click on the weather radar tab on the weather window above! Left-click on the 'minus' sign on the left-hand side of the radar to zoom out and get a view anywhere in the country or left-click on the 'plus' sign to zoom into your own neighborhood. Left-click and drag the radar view to focus on the area that's most important to you! You can animate the precipitation, clouds, or fronts, and check out weather warnings anywhere in the country!
