Hood heat extractors

I have had my car 2 days and I am finally getting to look it over well. I am a psycho about the cleanliness of my car and they get washed often and detailed. What happens to the water when you are washing the car? Does the water really go into the hood and splash down on top of the hood insulator and drip over the motor? Am I missing how these work?

********* NEVERMIND found a thread about it..........

I have a question, and excuse me if it's a dumb one. What is the cable/wiring going to the heat extractor on the passenger side of the car? I have a 2014 GTCS. Thanks for an answer.
