275 tires tramlining?
#3
I'm very interested in this too. I am planning on buying new tires in September. I believe it was the ops recommendation in a thread I started that pushed towards 275s. This issue crossed my mind a couple of times.

Per Tire Rack, tramlining can be caused by low profile tires, wider/grippier tires and worn suspension parts, to name just a couple of causes. So yes the 275 would cause slightly more tramline than the 255 but it has other causes as well.
Thanks for posting, I learned something new today.

I don't care what size or brand of regular tires because it can't be as bad as the Bridgestone RFL's that came with the BMW I had. I got rid of them as soon as I could. I was running - 2 degrees in the rear and once I changed the tires out for regular tires the tramlining stopped. I went from 255/35/18 RFL's to 265/35/18's and it stopped.

Kingpin offset and tread pattern. Pay attention compared to the stock tire. Most 275 are wrong OD for 19" wheels. If you find this to be the case, suggest larger (40 series vs 35) OD...such as Gabe did.
