I'm sure you've all heard about the issues with the 5.0 and it's clutch. It seems that a lot of the problems are at higher revs, right where the 302 engine seems to be designed to be spending a lot of it's time. I'm hoping that the clutch on this powertrain will be up to the task. Has anyone heard exactly what the difference between the GT's and 302's clutch will be?

I think the only info that has been released at this time is that it will be a BOSS-specific friction disc. What exactly that means is...????

However the fact that it is being used in the 302S is a strong indication of its strength.

As much as the GT500 clutch was panned when it first came out (I got 2 replaced on TSBs), I hope they use that. I have absolutely thrashed mine and probably have 15k miles on it, 5k of which are on the road course and it still works great. Properly driven, I assume the Boss clutch will be up to the task. Either way, I think Ford will be pretty liberal in warrantying them since they've really positioned this as a track car.

It's not the clutch that WAS the problem, but the thread sealant that holds the clutch bolts in. Couple of changes have been made to address the problem.
