Total BS Story from Ford Customer Service

Those of you who have been following my saga are NOT going to believe this.
To refresh:
Car produced Feb 17th, Released on Feb 24th. Sat on Ramp 51 for about two weeks, then Returned to Plant on/about March 9th. No status change as of March 16th ( a week later).

At this point, I call Ford Customer Service to find out just when the car will leave the plant and be shipped. Talked to a very nice helpful lady (won't name names here) who said that she would get back to me. She agreed that it seemed odd. Called her back early this week, she said that she had good news, my car would arrive at my dealer tomorrow, the 25th. This is after a 45 minute conversation during which she had to check with a "subject matter expert". In other words, a lot of activity to find out what I thought was good information. Informed dealer and pretty thrilled to think that my Boss would soon arrive.

So imagine my surprise to have my dealer call 30 minutes ago and tell me that VVS just updated for the first time and the car was loaded TODAY, including a rail car number. New ETA: April 2d; I have zero faith in this date being accurate.

I quit. This is the most broken delivery system that I have ever seen.

Hang in there Mark, the saga doesn't end there. My car made it from Chicago to the West coast in 3 days. It's been sitting in a Ford rail yard awaiting a 30 mile trip to the dealer since Sunday.

Thanks Dave. I can accept "we don't know", but I can't accept research, effort and then a date that is total BS. It shouldn't be that tough for them...45 days since build at this point.

I agree with the "hang in there" philosophy. Now that you have a railcar you can track it a little more closely, but be warned - the train might not make a bee line to your location. Right now, my railcar is further away from me than it was over a day ago. My ETA has changed a number of times. Last year my wife's Fusion sat for almost two months at the plant in Mexico.

Thanks, sat through exactly this same problem two years ago with the Shelby. I'll be lucky to see it in two more weeks. I'm thinking another month minimum to coastal SC.

I called CS again today to find out something new. Now they are saying the 27Th but have no clue where the car is. They say only the dealer knows, been there done that so I just ended the call. Car has been in FL since the 21st within two hours from the dealer.

Car was shipped on the 15Th and made it to FL three days ago. Sat for three days at a place about two hours north and where the dealer tells me the cars are trucked in from. Then yesterday the train moved again to a place about 1 1/2 hours south and today the train has no status. The destination also reads as a GM center.

Now since in today's technology advanced world no company could be this uncertain about were a $45,000 product is so I guess I am just going to wake up to find out there is no such thing as a "new" Boss 302. Quite a elaborate dream though, reading all these posts was so lifelike.

It is hard to wait, but maybe this will make you feel better.
I can track mine on the train car, but I would only find out that
it is at the dock later waiting for a boat to get loaded up on and
to start making a trip here and then unload on the dock and staged
for a truck to bring it....... I think the boat may have GPS on
it also for tracking, I tried that last time and the boat was here
before I got that figured out.
Mine was built on the 16th and waiting for shipping. ETA is 4/18/11

Who were you referring to Mark?
Even if you weren't referring to me, I believe that both myself and Scott have been more than patient.
Also, I am getting a little tired of explaining that its not about the "patience", when its never really been about the time. Its been about the lack of information, and in some cases the outright BS some of us have been fed.

When we accept this kind of nonsense from a company that many of us have given well over a hundred thousand dollars to over our lifetimes, then we are the fools, not them. All of those who wonder why the American car makers have had problems, this is a symptom of why....

Thanks Bossinator. Meanwhile, cars built the first week in March were delivered last week. I'm happy for those owners, but what on earth is the deal!?!

The lack of info is just plain frustrating for me.

Omg these waiting for your car stories are getting old, there's never an exact date for arrival only an estimation. Things do happen.

This must be one of Fords "Better Ideas", keep the customer guessing.

Once you drive home in it, the whole run around with the wait goes out the window.

I waited 4 months on a job 2 2010 GT... I was steaming pist- date after date after date...

Does it suck. Yes. Will you survive? Maybe. Can you speed the process up by calling Ford 12.81 times per hour. No.

Wait it out my man!

No fair your getting a new car and lots of other people are not. No matter how long it takes to get here when you get in it and start it for the first time your wait will be forgotten.

+1 i had the same problems with GM over a part for my Pontiac G8. 8 weeks the car sat. And customer service had no info at all.

This is the same thing, only what makes it worse is some people have info (some good, some BS)
