Shane, you have been a true gentleman since the beginning of this whole deal. Mom and dad should be very proud of the son they raised. You've been open and pragmatic, shared your struggle with your emotions and in the end, I think you have taken all the right steps. My hat's off to you.

do you guys think i should have put a BIN price on that auction?
Yes, if you still could, I would. Some wealthy collectors don't give a rats behind to be involved in an auction - watching and bidding and maybe losing, etc. A BIN won't hurt and don't be afraid to put what would make you happy.

Well done, Shane.

It looks like the same bidder is bidding against himself.

Id put 115k. If you want 100k, and someone is willing/can afford to look in that range, why not f*** em over 15k more, eh?:P

That's great logic.

Think of a reserve as a bidder, you can bid against it up to the reserve price but after that you need two live bidders to move the price any more.

That typically means he entered a max price somewhere beyond current price, with room to spare. So as others bid just a bit higher, he automatically trumps them. Each time they bid. Up to his max price.

I think $100k is a fair BIN price. Hopefully that would get you a second Boss and not take anything out of pocket from ya. Either that, or make the BIN price enough to easily cover the cost of two Bosses.

List a BIN at $107,500. Sell this goldmine by the weekend and get another Boss free and clear. Feel free to use the remaining to fund my Stage 2 Procharger project.

Whattayasay?

Good for you man! Get all you can out of this!

Capitalism FTW!

Don't forget you will have to pay income taxes on the proceeds. And at your tax bracket rate. It will be considered a short term gain since you've owned it less than a year. Don't forget that.

Would it be at Barrett-Jackson the bidding would at least double that much, a PJ signature would enhance it even more. Other first production high performance Mustangs have gone for a lot more.

Didn't the Daytona 500 pace car sell for over $300K?

I think the reason most of those "first" cars bring so much at BJ is that most of them are generally sold with the money going to some charity.

I agree but that does not taint the fact many have sold for over half a million dollars. Collectors have a different perspective than we do.

My girlfriend, who just bought a 2011 V6 6 mo. ago had some choice words about what was going on here. I can't repeat them as the post would be deleted.

It probably would, but that's not what Shane is trying to do. If he's going to worry about the car to the point it's not fun to drive, then I don't blame him for offering it up to someone who wants that kind of worry and hassle. The charity cars are one thing, this is another. I don't see this going up to the levels that some of the BJ auctions do, and I really don't think it should either.

I thought about it some more last night, and I think $125k would have been a fair BIN price. Sell your Boss, get another, and put away some money for your son's college fund.

????? It's a free society, why would she care? Does she hate on BJ cars that sell for hundreds of thousands when their original selling price was 3k? Shane is not a dealer, he's a private owner free to do whatever he wants with HIS car. I suggest you dump this woman because she sounds like nothing but a pain in the rear.

Go Shane Go !! I would do exactly the same thing as him.

No matter what some of these guys think, your doing the right thing,

You will now own a paid off Boss and use it like it should be ..

Ive been in your shoes at some extent with a 428 Super Cobra Jet,

Bought it and then sold it and made a huge profit after realizing I would

never have the money to do a correct restoration.
