Just got off the phone with CARB and...
So Ijust got off the phone with CARB and here is what they told me.
1. The Trackey program is a 3rd party tune being submitted by Ford Racing but still needs to meet certin guidelines in order to pass.
2. Ford marketed that the key is used for track only but since the Boss is listed as a comsumer car, which could be bought at a dealership, then is does not get classifield as a track car like the Boss 302S or 302R.
3. Priority does not go to any manufacturer of any 3rd party tuner. The only priority goes to new car development that are waiting for the approval to be able to be sold. Since the Boss is already being sold it does not meet this class.
4. CARB could not give any detail on why their is a hold on the program but that Ford is fully aware on the issue but seems like they are not disclosing the information to their customers (thats us)

LOL for someone with that screen name I think you should open a dictionary and look up the word "retroactively"
For sensitivity purposes, every student now gets a 4.0 GPA as to not single out anybody or to hurt their feelings. Can't just go around putting labels on people nowadays.
*Sigh* Another TracKey thread... yet this one hurts the brain more than others...
I was going to order a 2013 Boss and now I am not because of Track Key issues...
Oh wait that's not me, that's the few (or numerous) whiny people who talk in extremes on the internet because there is no accountability on said internet . I keep ignoring Track Key threads but I wanted to rant a bit because I haven't done such yet.
The first thing I thought of when I saw the Track Key promo video at the LA Auto Show was "Wow, that looks like a marketing gimmick if I have ever seen one."
I have never been so excited for something as getting my own Boss and learning how to drive it properly at the other (awesome) marketing gimmick, the "free" (aka prepaid in the price of our Bosses) Track Attack, then tearing up Willow Springs a few weekends a year with the best Mustang Ford has ever built.
Is CARB the devil incarnate? Probably. My '05 Sport Trac (which they should just call a 4 door Ranger, because that is pretty much what it is) failed emissions because it had an AEM intake that was only CARB approved for a Ranger. The actual tailpipe emissions were far better than required by the regulations. I had to buy a new OEM intake to pass because my 4 door Ranger says "Explorer Sport Trac" on the tailgate. Really? Stupid California.
Anyway, the Track Key is cool, but I honestly don't think I could care less about it at this point. I can live without the lopey idle and I am sure by this time next year there will be plenty of aftermarket (and more aggressive) tunes available that I can have loaded between smog checks.
I still can't wait until December when I can order my Boss...though if it's hard to wait for ordering, I can't imagine how hard it will be to wait for delivery, then for Track Attack.

Use of the word is appropriate in this context. I majored in English, Communication and Sociology (so when it comes to vocabulary, I know what I'm talking about) and I'm proud of that and what I accomplished (as I think anyone else would/should be) so lets not pick a word out of my post and argue semantics and then have others pile on okay?
I'm getting really tired of having to defend myself over this aspect of my life seemingly everywhere I go in the real world and online-just one more symptom of the rampant anti-intellectualism in this country today.
