Sounds good on the internet, but sure would have been fun to find out at MPH last weekend. You would have had at least 10 Bosses to pick on including 3 Laguna Secas. You're certainly welcome to show us next year

I think Al is a straight-line performance guy. He will beat you down the front straight to the first turn, but after that just make sure that you are on the inside going into that turn.

I'm really loving this thread. You guys and gals are great. No road courses here yet but we have one coming. I'm sure I'll be visiting the body shop shortly after. I just wouldn't be able to stand it if some vette or camaro smokes me when the light goes green or especially on interstate. So far the only thing that has given me a good fight was a 2012 GT500. But I'll take horsepower over balance all day long. Keep up the great comments guys. This place needs threads like this.

How fast is your car? I keep hearing about these "fast" cars but I have never heard what yours or 11shelbygt500's cars run. I'm asking about 1/4 mile times/trap speeds too not dyno numbers. Just curious.

I showed an 11 GT500 my tail lights on the freeway, good friend of mine too. He was

Not really sure right now. Never got a clean run yet. Repaired the trans and haven't been back yet. Trapped at 120 and I should be a few mph above that since the repair. I'll make sure and post whatever it does when I go back.

Nice! I look forward to hearing what it runs.

In the mean time looks like my old crusty foxbody has it on these Shelbys so far...

My GT500 traps at 121.4 with massive wheel spin Not to mention, drag racing's not exactly my specialty.

I almost sold mine to get the 2012, I'm glad I didn't.

In many cases wheelspin will make your trap speed higher, turbo cars are an exception where wheelspin reduces boost/power. I guess I won't start a debate about that, 121.4 is stout.

But again, my crusty old fox sits above the shelbys.... for now lol

Yep. That wheel spin will always bring mph up. You really can't judge anything by 1/4 mi times either. Give me a ride that will do everything. So far the Nissan GTR is the only car out that satisfies everything. Just won't spend that much on a Nissan.

Funny you should say that. The last time I did drag race (which is where I got that trap speed), I was ironically lined up next to a GT-R and I still won the race despite all the wheel spin. Not sure how you figure increased wheel spin will raise a trap mph. I wasn't spinning in 4th at the trap if that's what you meant.

It does raise trap speed. Every time. By the time you quit spinning, mph is a lot higher at that point on the track. And you have the rest of the track to just go faster. I'm pretty sure if you try, you can reach 130 at low 12's. Which is not good times but great trap speed. Just let it spin.

Had to scroll up and find out what we're even talking about

Due to Kalifornia's economic troubles, all the CARB employees are on furlow until they balance the state budget. TK will be pushed back a while.

It is hard for people who don't drag race a lot to understand, I have had this discussion countless times and some people refuse to believe it until they experience it. Which is fine, I'm like that about some things myself (see my Boss 302 intake for sale thread for an example lol) but it does usually raise your trap speed.

I can say for SURE its not every time, pretty much any turbo car won't follow this rule. Turbo cars make boost under load (none or maybe 1-2 psi revving in neutral) and when they spin the tires they reduce the load and the boost falls off. I think its safe to say that when the boost falls off so does the power, and it costs them speed. My close friend has a 400 whp SRT4 that is a prime example of this. Car runs 12.7@115 but will stay right next to my other buddies cammed C6 on the freeway. The vette traps at 124.
