Frustration Rant
Frustration Rant
I am getting really frustrated with this process. When I heard about the boss did my research and got really excited. Went in at thanksgiving put down my deposit for my first quarter car after many phone calls and emails to find a dealer with an available allocation and no ridicuous ADM. The whole track key, track oriented bare bones car, and track driving experience got me excited. Now it is June 10 and car is still at factory awaiting shipment. Was built (finally) May 12. Have been through two ETA's with the latest one being June 14. That obviously isnt going to happen. I understand others have waited longer but the longer this takes the more of a bad taste in my mouth I begin to get. Am beginning to think about pulling the plug and getting something else. Summer here in WI is shorter than in other areas and I sit waiting as it begins to go by. The wait is frustrating but even more so is the over promise under deliver which I keep getting. Tell me my car will be here later and deliver it sooner. Even assuming I get it soon there is no track key yet. Driving experience is yet to be schedulable. I realize it is just a car but if I treated my customers at work like this they would go elsewhere. Even if it doesnt sound like it I appreciate what ford did with this car. I just wish they would quit promising what they can't deliver or provide a reason for a delay. Those of you who have your car enjoy them! Hopefully I will soon join you!
Wishing you luck, I know the wait is painful and yours seems especially bad. But...you should suck it up. You won't believe how happy she's going to make you. The rite of passage pays off every day for me when I get off work.
I put my name on the list in April 2010, put the formal order in at the beginning of Dec. for a Q1 car, once the dealer had confirmation of allocation. what's now my car was built on May 21st, and in snaking its way to the dealer by rail. One thing that's kept me sane is that I've been insanely busy with work and haven't had time to over-obsess about the car. Merely obsessing about it was plenty enough. There are still things I need to arrange before I can take delivery. It feels like it's coming too soon...
Kona302, in watching delivery posts, and my own delivery experience, it seems there is about a 30 day period from when the car actually leaves the production line and it arrives at the dealer. This is not concrete by any means, just my observation. My car was built May 2nd and arrived at the dealer June 3rd.
It is indeed frustrating....for all of us owners, but hang in there. Trackkey is also coming. Probably be to you by the time you "slowly" break your new Boss in. Maybe the June 14th car delivery date is really not that far out of line.
Hope your wait is soon over!

Early on I spent a lot of time on the forums trying to understand the order and allocation process. That understanding helped keep my frustration to a minimum. There was nothing to get excited about until the VIN was assigned and from there it should be a fairly straight forward process.
The two areas for concern are delays in the production line and the dreaded your Boss is built but not shipped. There are several people that had late April and early May builds that have had their cars held for some QC reason and I understand the frustration. I'm hoping the current builds, mine is finished today, will ship quickly and I will not have a delay. But now that I'm in the wait for shipping mode my anxiety level has gone up.

Hang in there man, it is worth the wait. I drove 3.5 hours each way last night to pick up my Kona Blue 302 because it came in a day early. I got home at 1:30 this morning, stashed it in the garage, and now at airport. Cannot drive it for 10 days. I have 250 miles on the car and I can assure you it is worth waiting. You will split your face with the smile you get the first time you fire it up and hear that engine. The acceleration is fierce (I have scared myself twice, baby sister once with me this morning) and it handles like it is on rails. Keep the faith, you wont regret it.

One more thought. I have been waiting for my Boss 302 since 1970 when I got my first car, a 1970 Mustang fastback with the 250ci straight six snd 3 speed manual. I wanted the Boss but it was ~$4500 then, my stripped down stang was $1900.
Sorry your so frustrated! Hang in there, its worth it. Being on the leading edge of anything is at best difficult. Many of us (like me) got caught up in the hype. I got sucked in thinking it would be difficult to get a Boss. Months ago they started showing up on Cars.com in fair volume, many with both options @ list. Right now there are 21 listed, 7 with both options @ list within 500 miles of my location. I spent a bunch of time tracking down allocations. But my timing was such that uniits started to roll into dealers just when i was ready to buy. So, I relinquished my allocation and got one off the show room floor for list. I decided to buy in April and I have been driving mine for over a month. Its worth the wait!
