Flat Rock Mazda production impacted by fire at parts supplier

Wouldn't surprise me if they're waiting to ship until the dealers know how to install the TracKey software. You gotta believe everyone picking up their Boss is going to want the TracKey upgrade before they drive off the lot.

Planning.......Just kidding. Every manufacturer is going through some kind of shortage and delay. The weather is not helping. Fires at parts plants is not helping. Almost every part is outsourced and delivered just in time for assembly. Some depend on option, others like crankshafts, are needed in every car.
Quite a few of the parts suppliers either went under or cut back on staff and capital equipment purchases during the recession. Now that demand is high again, the suppliers can't respond fast enough. Some are afraid to invest in people or equipment in case it all goes south again (oil is over 100 a barrel again, food prices are going up). This could all go sideways again.
Like I said before. It's the lack of information (and the speculation) thats the real killer here.

I don't think this would be it. It would be like suspending shipment due to the brake cooling kit not being available until 4/1. TracKey is an FRPP after-market item. My dealer talked to FRPP last week and they said TracKey is not available yet and had NO ETA. While I think that sucks because you are right that almost all owners will buy it, it doesn't come from Ford as part of the factory delivered car.

My dealer told me that TracKey is an "after delivery option". Ford will not allow dealers to do the software before delivery. Although it is covered by warranty, that is probably a sign that is marginal in meeting EPA specs. Dealers are also not allowed to remove the side exhaust attenuation discs before delivery. Same reason.

I'm well aware of the process, I'm just saying that as soon as ownership is passed to me (after I sign some paper at the dealership paper) my next comment is going to be asking them to install the TracKey software. I hope they're ready. I also hope the brake ducting and splitter install will be available, too.
I just checked Friday and the brake ducts still show available 4/1.
No ETA on TracKey
