Flat Rock Mazda production impacted by fire at parts supplier

Hey, don't get me started on delivery. In 1993 I followed my car down the assembly line at 9PM and picked it up at my dealership at 1PM the next day 25 miles away from the plant. Delivery charge $790 1993 dollars for a 20 minute drive. Makes your $860 2011 dollars for 875 miles to SD look like a bargain! lol

If your "goods" were "finished" they'd be shipped.

Maybe, maybe not. It would also show "awaiting shipment" when it's in the queue to get sent over to VPC as well.
I don't know if VPC is running or not; it may not be affected.
A shutdown at the plant won't affect final destination shipping. Cars that are really "finished" and ready to be shipped out will get shipped as it's done by an outside company.

Start here, and then do more searching for more detailed articles. The good news is the final decision has not been made, which hopefully will be good news.
( you were a bit rough on phytrpilot - just sayin' )

Mazda is not selling enough of these to make it worthwhile, that has been talked about for a while. If they pull out this summer that is news as it is quick since there has been no official announcement.

I know, but it is true
I forgot this

I do not know how accurate this info is, so don't too excited, just throwing it out there. This info, from the best I can tell, is coming from someone that works at a dealer and every dealer is telling their people something different.
Sparky .... comments?

FYI... The "OK To Buy" status has been achieved for the 2012MY Mustang, vehicles are now being shipped and in transit to dealers and will start aririving soon.
Unfortunately, according to today's "Commodity & Constraint" letter for this week's scheduling, NO 2012 Mustang orders will be selected for scheduling on Thursday, March 3rd.

Besides, must of us are waiting for VINs first anyway; they could serialize the cars without scheduling them (ie material hold).
The big unknown (to me) is what the state of the Mustang order bank is. As I said at BON "sold" means nothing for the backlog; you can't sell what you haven't built or delivered to the dealership. Right now there is a huge backlog of Edge orders at our plant, but parts are a constraint particularly engines. It's a side effect of "cut cut cut" when the economy slowed; we've reduced the number of suppliers, some went under, some parts we (Ford) used to build are now outsourced. So now when things pick up there is an accordian effect, right now suppliers can't keep up with demand.

Sorry, but I live 10 minutes from AAI, and have a lot of people close to me who work there. They haven't made an official decision yet. I did read some of those articles before hand. This is just something that I am passionate about and don't want the wrong information spread, that's all.
