So the trackey gives you all the negitaves of a cam and none of the positives? Sweet!
TracKey doesn't have to give positives there. "Variable Valve Timing" already does it.

The variable valve timing does not increase lobe height or duration

Then please someone help me understand this, if CARB is requiring Ford to change something and the software is loaded to the onboard computer... And the Key allows you to access it... By gosh jow then can a Red Key that is supposed to let u access the programming do anything but turn on the 'original tune' HELLO, what am i missing in my pea brain? Hmmm. So will we have to go and Service the car to get Key and Car updated?

PS please give us the Track Key for .302 cents USA for having to wait :-)

The tune that is activated by the key must first be loaded into the cars computer at the dealer. The wait has been for the approval so that Ford can release this program to dealers who will then load it into your car, for a fee, and then it will be activated each time you use your red key.

As I understand it.

Therefore if you live 67 miles from your dealer + tolls, you gotta go there plus pay for the upgrades. Just sayin' Boooooo in honor of Halloween to that, just sayin'. Feelin' stingy tonite. So how about Ford flys us all out to SEMA just so we can cheer the TracKey and then tells us its free too. Just sayin'

It's it's ok, i do think you are right indeed. And I hope they would really specify what it will and won't do for the car so a person can decide if it will be worth the $ and time to upgrade accordingly. Sigh. Saying 200 hundred or 500 parameters does seem to imply it be worth it but heck inquiring minds want details, charts, and control over the rev limit-ter i guess i am tired and not feeling optimistic.

You are correct. The rev and speed limiters are not changed

Now my question is this.

Does the, for lack of a better word, partition, currently exist in the ECM or PCM or ECU or whatever it's called?

And if so I understand that people can curretly use their red key but all it does is turn on a stock tune.

So I guess what I'm asking is this. Currently two stock tunes, assumingly identical, exist in the computer in a partition of sorts and one is activated by the red key and one is activated by the black key?

I'd also like to see from Pacetter the device that they will load the tune with, and what measures are taken to make it proprietary that someone can't just load a tune into the PCM eith something like a xcal while the red key is in and the tune then reside in that red side of the computer.

See where I'm going here?

And what happens if you change your stock black key tune? The red remains unchanged? Nobody has tried this yet?

I know one of you has a supercharger on his car. I think 06GT if memory serves. Where is that tune residing currently? In the black side?

And lastly does the tune loaded by your Ford dealer activate the partition and load the tune? In other words with the car as is now, does the red key and black key turn on the exact same program in the same spot, and it's the dealer that willninstall the partition and new tune?

I'm just curious guys. It is very interesting as I am sure these things will show up in future models.

There's no "partition" in the PCM.

Loading of the TackKey tune is by reprogramming the PCM with the special TracKey flash.

Once that's done, using the red key activates different options in the cluster options (done via steering wheel buttons), and changes parameters which affect engine idle, engine load-braking, and a bunch other stuff.

Kinda like the "MyKey" that some late-model Fords have now where using a key dedicated as a "MyKey" makes the car have a certain max speed, certain max radio volume level, and so on.

The TracKey tune just takes the "MyKey" programming to a whole new level.

It doesn't change height, but it can increase duration and overlap.

FWIW, the cars at the dealer meetings had TracKey installed, and I barely noticed a difference in idle. I'm extremely mad at myself for not getting a vid, but we'll know for sure in a month or so.

There's a pretty significant and noticeable difference. The engine has to warm up a bit for it to kick in, and you have to blip the throttle to get it to start doing it.
