For that amount I'd go Porsche GT3 RS just to be different.

Not even a ZR1, but I would love to see them selling at that price

If they were $48k I'll make other cars that were the same $100,000+ price $48k. Still buy the vette?

At real prices I'd consider a Vette GS and actually was thinking about one. But I need a back seat for my cute 9 year old twins. Needing a back seat also eliminated the Porsche Carrera GT from consideration. But I do have a brochure.

That's the beauty of the current Mustang lineup. You can dial up or down your comfort and technology features, along with your preference for go fast and handling.

Embarrassing? I really don't get that.
Yeah but the GT already runs pretty much even with an M3 at half the price. It didn't take all they did with the Boss to beat it. The Boss is more than an M3 in terms of performance. I just don't think it's good to compare a luxury sports coupe to a stripped down track car.

I think it has less to do with the interiors and more to do with BMW being their arch rival on the track like in the current Grand-Am Series:

Haha really though. You could get a GT premium with HIDs, BBP and EP to load it up, for around $35-37k, put $10-15k in to it with FRPP warrantied parts, and utterly destroy a $65k M3, whilst having the same amount of luxury and saving $10-15k in purchase price (not to mention insurance). I want to see the Boss compared to the stripped down M3 GTR or whatever they call it...BMW's track prepped M3 on Michelin Sport Cups, not the regular M3. Besides, the M3 isn't even close to being what it used to be. It's not much more than a status symbol. I'm sure Dave can attest that many current generation M3 owners aren't going to be tracking their cars, but I can guarantee a lot of Boss owners will. So who cares about comparing to the M3? It's a techno loaded up high-revving grand tourer, not the lightweight track scalpel that it used to be. Is it still a good track car? Of course, but like the new 458 Italia Ferrari, any one can jump in an M3 and go fast. I don't think that's the case with the Boss. The M3 has lost its soul. The Boss has been reincarnated to wreak havoc amongst today's few remaining driver's cars.

Ehhh, this is true. You got me there. If only we had the M3 CSL here, I'd be more proud of the street Boss kicking the street M3's ****.

You know, just for conversation purposes, I'm a little more into amenities than most of you guys... but let me just say that I had narrowed my choice down to a new 2010 Corvette LT3 with navigation for $53,000 (yes, dual roofs, dual mode exhaust, too). Then I started fretting about it. And my wife said "You're a Ford guy, a Mustang guy," and I realized that if I bought a Corvette, I would be a Ford guy driving a Chevy. Bingo. My 2012 Kona Blue GT 500 is on order, as of today. I don't care what's faster. I need a few amenities (not too many) and I probably won't track it . . . I just know the Shelby is the best-looking car on the planet, and I like its "attitude."
