I think everyone who wants a Boss will be able to get one. The main thing is to get to your dealer and let your interest be known. Some people might think this interest ear marks you as "prey" for the dealer but do you really have any other options? I suppose you can just wait and see what happens and hope to find one on a dealer's lot and then play dumb and disinterested and hope the dealer is desperate to unloaded it, but I don't think that seems like a very sound strategy.
I'd rather spend my time looking for a dealer (now) who's willing to sell at MSRP and letting him know you're ready to buy as soon as the order banks open.

I think having a good relationship is a factor, but not the only factor, in securing a car. I have had transactions with previous salespersons where if there were other people who wanted to pay more, that superceded any "shake of the hand". Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a magic bullet or specific process out there.
Good luck to us all, I suppose!
I sure wish there was. I desperately want to know if the dealer I'm at is one of the top 794 volume Mustang dealers to guarantee at least one Boss 302. I'm fairly certain we are, but knowing is always better than hoping.
Ford has added eleven pounds of sound-deadening material to the Boss so that occupants can enjoy the much louder exhaust sound without being completely shell-shocked.
