Could the Mach 1 be coming????
Doubtful
If they are making the car (BOSS) for the next couple of years, that would bring us into the next gen.
I wouldn't say there won't ever be a Mach1 again, just that we probably won't see one anytime soon.

A Mach I release would be big news and like the other posters, I don't see it happening until after the 50th anniversary car is out not at the tail-end of the current generation.
I still think there's a good chance we will see an N/A version of the 5.4 in something before it goes, which I would assume would coincide with the next gen model.
A Mach 1 would make a lot of sense. Just basically make it a street version of the Cobra Jet. I think it would be amazing, and would offer something completely different from the Boss or GT500.
A few classic styling cues, Cobra Jet motor, more drag oriented suspension. Why not?

The Challenger RT (is there a Camaro RS?) is the rival for the GT. The Z28 is the rival for the GT500. So Ford needs a regular production model, not a limited edition, to beat the crap outta the SS (yes I know the GT already does that but this would make the smack down even more complete!).

The strength of the engine now is in its SC applications, not its NA abilities.
The 5L is newer and more technologically advanced (smaller/lighter/more powerful)
I can't see Ford spending the money to make the 5.4 (which would be heavier) to compete with what the 5L platform can do, for a short run of cars. Just doesn't make any sense.

You're getting as bad as TopNotch for teasing

I guess Ford may want to prevent sales from slipping before the debut of the 2014 all-new-Mustang, so perhaps there's a slim chance we may see another SE before then. Perhaps it'd run the Coyote in a spec the standard GT will run in '14....say 425bhp. However, unless the new car continues to use the current platform (possible, but unlikely?) I can't see any last minute SE using any '14 suspension components.
We'll have a '13 MY '70 inspired Boss, so I'm struggling to believe there'll be time for anything else.

they need to start going into the new school and leave the old school little by little. The new school being v6/v8 ecoboost motors. No one want to pay for the old school if you really think of it. The crappy ac the poor mpg and the lack of quality.
I think you misunderstood my reference to "Old School." The 6.2 is a relatively new engine (newer than the 4.6 or 5.4). I was referring to the Old School mentality of the Mach having most of the Boss's styling cues but packaged differently. In the late '60s the Machs had a lot of luxury items (radio, A/C, automatic tranny, etc) that you wouldn't want on a track car (i.e. Boss). But it still offered all the style of a race car that was better suited for the streets and drag strip. A new Mach could offer luxury items like an upgraded stereo, glassback, etc. that a lot of us have been asking for on the Boss, while maintaining the race oriented Boss for the purists. After all I can't see myself hitting 7500rpm in DC traffic, but I sure would enjoy a torquey alternative with all the styling cues!
