Rotary, like a WWII fighter? Of course, changing some of the plugs would be a pain.

I stand corrected

A good Turbo four would be fine. I had a Mini John Cooper Works before my Mustang it it went like a bat outta hell. It was a great engine and a fun fast great handling car. A Turbo four "OK"

*******************BUT**************************** *****

That ugly Kia looking body is sure not anything like a Mustang should look like. I hope you guy's are right and this is just a drawing and not really what the Mustang will look like. I guess I just like the retro look and any of these new cookie cutter look alike cars are just not my style.

I really did not mean to upset anybody. I just thought the forum was to offer an opinion and discuss it. Not offer an opinion and get attacked.

I certainly don't care if they offer a Turbo 4 in fact if the 4 generates better MPG and allows the V8 to continue on a while longer I am all for it! It seems everyone has a 2.0 i4 these days for MPGs so I guess it's inevitable.

Regarding the Kia looks the OP mentioned, I have to come to his defense. If you look at the render the OP is referring to it does look very much like a Hyundai Genesis (not Kia IMHO), especially the open mouth front end that the Genesis has now.

I do think it has potential however if it is given a more Mustang look. The problem I have is EVERY render looks so similar and so Fusion look-a-like that I am nervous but still hopeful.

Lets not jump Ford yet for their new 15 mustang because we don't know what the heck it's gonna look like. As long as customers out there are spending there money on V8, 400 plus HP cars, then Ford will continue to produce them. But to Ford, there is a much larger picture than the view points of a few thousand muscle, gear heads who want 600 HP cars. The Mustang V8 is not the only car that Ford sells and in fact I bet Ford sells more V6 models than V8 models over the past years. Ford sees a huge customer market there loosing to the 4 banger turbo cars, such as Mits Evo, Subaru Wrx. I know this may shock some people here but many consumers care about higher fuel mpg and its more important to have a car get 35 plus mpg than a car that gets 22 mpg . Sure, they may love the lines and sexiness of the mustang but doing 160 mph and 12.5 seconds 1/4 mile runs is not really important to the majority of the world. Consumers like the forum members on here are in the great minority. How many people buy mustangs and don't spend spit on any aftermarket modification?

Why would you think "Car and Driver" would already have access to the actual design at this point? Like so many other photos floating around, these are all guesses. And guesses are likely all we'll see for a few more months until the camouflaged test cars start hitting the roads. And even then, we still aren't likely to know what they look like until someone sneaks in and snaps a photo at a supplier (like what happened in 2003 for the upcoming 2005) or someone accidentally leaks a CAD drawing from a supplier.

Based on past history, we probably won't see anything more substantial until closer to the end of the year. In fact, I think some speculate this will be shown at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.

In the meantime, I wait and enjoy the current design of my 2010.

I am sure if we all had our way the mustang would be 2000 lbs and have a W12 twin turbo.

If it only weighed 2000 lbs it would be a rough riding beast. The weight in my 2014 convertible helps make it smooth and comfortable. And a W12 would likely be a high revving engine, not unlike the hotter 4s that some seem to find offensive. Personally, I can enjoy both the throaty rumble of the V8s and the scream of the high revving 4s, as well as the V6 in between which makes some great sounds when you get on it.

I wouldn't want to listen to V8 rumble all day long or to F1 scream either. All things in moderation. However, a GOOD engine is a delight no matter how many pistons it has.

Ford is not gonna jeopardize the classic muscle car guy market in the usa.
How many including me, if they like the 15' or 16 would purchase a new one?
So these rumors are just rumors, don't get your undies in a bundle. Time will tell

As a owner of countless fox body 2.3L mustangs ill be more then happy if they bring back a turbo 4! How is a turbo eco 4 with possible more power and fuel savings over your auto V6 a bad thing?

ps: if you ever get the chance to go for a ride in a svo,you might just change your mind!

I'm sure there are going to be options for a wide customer base.
as the Mustang has always been. and I can understand why they are
going after the 4 banger market. it is a large market wth a lot of aftermarket
dollars being spent. All we can hope for is they dont forget about us loud rumble
loving V8 guys.
