"Leaked" 2015 Mustang on Dec. cover of Car & Driver
Saw/drove my first C-7 yesterday, although I'm not a GM guy I LOVED it (except for the rear end). If the C&D pic is close to the new Mustang, it exceeds my expectations. I will patiently wait & decide then. However it seems like C-7 is a TON of car for the money !! Scott

Notice how I never said camaro in my post, only Lt1. The sounding like **** comment overlaps both the camaro and any truck/SUV that came equipped with a Lt1. Also changing the exhaust only amplifies the ****.
Automatic5.0 what exhaust setup is on your 5.0 and don't tell me stock!

It is stock (I know, I am not good enough to be here with you hard core folks) but I have heard many Mustangs with many different exhaust systems on them. I did not wake up yesterday and listen to my first Ford, GM, or Mopar. I realize I am new here and must give right of way to members like you since you know so much about everything and your opinion is the only one people are allowed to subscribe to. I apologize for my posting in such a serious thread about our expectations of the new Mustang. Now I know why I owned GM cars since I was 17. GM folks tend to get along and don't look down on other people liking other automobile manufacturers.

Camaro5 won't allow one iota of dissension from their god GM or they immediately ban you from their site.
My Bullitt is 100% stock and everybody that's heard my car Loves the exhaust note! And they own a variety of cars.

Can we put the truck engine crap to bed? Nearly all of our US V8 engines have been both car and truck engines.
Changes in exhaust style, headers and head design will change things as well as timing but they are ALL truck and car engines so yes they sure as hell should sound like truck engines.
A corvette doesn't sound like a Camaro because of a completely different exhaust.
This is hardly worth arguing about. Just my opinion though.

You know, I'm getting the feeling that a lot of people around here just want an European performance car but can't afford it. So they are wishing for an Euro Mustang because this is as close as they can get since the Mustang is cheap in comparison. Honestly, there's nothing wrong with the way the LT1 or any American V8 sound in comparison to any European.
I agree the LT1 is one of the best sounding American V8s. Definitely in the GM line up. Sounds much better than the LS1 and better than the new Camaros too. Actually, not a fan of the way the new Camaros sound at all. The GT500 sounds way better than a ZL1 IMO. By far!
Semantics and most likely because Ford no longer has a real sports cars in their line up. But to me, a sports cars is like a Corvette, Viper, Ford GT, Murcielago etc.
The Mustang, Camaro, Challenger etc are in the same category as a BMW 4 or 6. They are sports coupes. The term Pony car is really just a thing of the past as much as is muscle car. The muscle cars of today are not really muscle cars according to the reason the term was created in the first place for the same reason the original Mustang wasn't and was called a pony car instead.
Trying to compare the sound of a pushrod to a high revving OHC is kind of silly IMO.
Trying to compare the sound of older engines to today's use of axle backs is also silly. As the "old guy" at the local muffler shop that caters to all brands of hot rods said, "you need that longer tailpipe to get that great sound". Axle back manufacturers try their best but most of them on cars from the factory still sound kind of nasal to me.

I guess this must be a matter of perception. I'm living in Europe for the time being and when I hear it, the last thing I think is truck, as we barely have any of them gas guzzlers huge American trucks around here. So all I think is American V8, or muscle car, or Mustang etc. But I guess I can see what you are describing happening if you live in the south of the U.S. or around the mountains.

I'm perhaps the most anxious about the future gt350. It's an exciting time to like American muscle....
Well, better is in the eye of the beholder or in this case in the intention. For drag racing, well... For better quality build and parts the Vette probably has the edge. In general, I'm pretty sure the Vette will keep up with a Porsche. The Shelby Mustang, not a chance. ;-)
This!
