Regarding your SVT is not special comment, SVT does exactly what AMG does. They hand build performance engines specific to their particular models and pump up the performance and handling in general.

Saleen is largely body kits and really large wheels. It was once a better interpretation IMHO but they haven't done much recently.
So you're suggesting that the engine from the 2013 Shelby GT500 is a hand built engine?

And Ford calls it a sports car on their website

2014 Camaro improved. 2014 Corvette worsened. 2015 Mustang worsened. Oh well, maybe the new Vette and Mustang will grow on me over time. The 2010 Mustang did.

The GM LT1 makes the best V8 sound in my opinion. Cammed or stock, it just has the perfect tone/firing order. The blue oval twin cam 5.0 and GM LSX are superior performers but that old LT1 just sounds awesome. I always hated that my '93 Trans Am sounded better than my '99 WS6.

As for the E46 M3s, of which I have more than a little familiarity, yes they were inline sixes, perhaps one of the better cylinder arrangements for a number of reasons, and they were hardly "puny" as they would evicerate the a 3.7 Stangs and even run ahead of the 4.6 Stangs on the straights, then evicerate them as soon as one turned the steering wheel. That a decade+ old 3.2 M3 can still readily outpower brand new Stang 3.7, even after spotting the latter an extra half liter is hardly the mark of a puny car. They do have a very sharp sound, but that is as much reflective of their high CR, very aggressive cams, machined and polished ports and header exhaust, all of which send down each exhaust pulse like a knife-edged rifle shot than the softer pulses of a less highly tuned motor.

As for the current V8 M3, they has, what I would say, a dinstinct note over a Stang or Vette, more different than better or worse. Kind of has a distant, almost ghostly quality (I'm reaching here) than the deeper, earthier big Yank V8s. A lot of these Euro motors, though, I find sound much better in real life than on video. For some reason, video/audio clips just rarely captures the richness of their sounds like they can the deeper American V8s.

I would agree that the current V6 Stang could use a more soulful exhaust note though. Not that its bad, but not really sporty either - I'm sure Ford could do better.

Agreed,

I can't tell you how many Mustang 5.0 guys have stopped me and told me on how awesome my M3 sounds. Stock, all you hear is intake roar from 8 individual throttle bodies. When you remove the primary cats (a set of test pipes) and keep the stock secondary cats along with a good cat back the sound is intoxicating.

They ruined the new Camaro. The taillights are horrid. The new Corvette on the other hand is gorgeous and has been very well received by critics. And the new Mustang looks great, has IRS, a host of new technology and is reportedly lighter to boot. What's not to like?

I think the 2015 leaks I have seen has taken a step in the wrong direction as far as styling. It might be a more modern car but I do not like the way it looks. I respect anyone's opinion and that's all it is with me is my opinion. Same with the Camaro and Corvette, just my opinion.

And as I stated, they might grow on me, who knows once I see enough of them. Other cars have in the past.

Lol the old Lt1 was one of the worst sounding motors ever. There is no defined sound, just a lot of noise, and hearing one had you looking for a POS silverado in all directions.

I thought we were talking about the style of it since the OP posted a picture of it. Who knows how it will perform at this point. Rumorville is churning for sure.

Hey, that's your opinion. I wish my new 5.0 sounded like my old LT1. Under 2500 rpm, the 5.0 sounds like crap including the idle. The LT1 sounded good all the way up from idle to red line.

You don't know what the '15 Mustang looks like yet. At least wait until the actual car comes out before you declare it "a step in the wrong direction." Is that really too much to ask of some of you?

Just to be clear......the OP posted a link to a C&D rendering. It's close......it's not the real '15 Mustang

Complained? That's past tense, isn't it? Pretty sure it still gets a mention at least once a month

Besides, the diaper is a grower. A bit like Cindy Crawford's mole

Exactly....sounds like a truck engine. Even the new ones stock sound like truck engines

Can we put the truck engine crap to bed? Nearly all of our US V8 engines have been both car and truck engines.

Changes in exhaust style, headers and head design will change things as well as timing but they are ALL truck and car engines so yes they sure as hell should sound like truck engines.

A corvette doesn't sound like a Camaro because of a completely different exhaust.

This is hardly worth arguing about. Just my opinion though.

Notice how I never said camaro in my post, only Lt1. The sounding like **** comment overlaps both the camaro and any truck/SUV that came equipped with a Lt1. Also changing the exhaust only amplifies the ****.

Automatic5.0 what exhaust setup is on your 5.0 and don't tell me stock!
