5.0 Horsepower ratings

To make a long story short i would like to see what you guys would est the hp and tq to be considering that the new 5.0 is just a boss 302 long block with the gts manifold with charge motion valves (yuck). And the heads are not ported and polished cough cough why they redesigned the ports for better flow. and the short block from the boss as well just the typical gt pistons. Factor in all of this and my plants need for rumors lmfao.
435Hp
410ft pounds

ps and the weight will be the same aluminum fender where added to help balance out the added weight from the irs and new materials

You should have added 440-450 in the poll.

I don't see anything that would lead me to believe it's less powerful then the Boss engine. Bigger ports, bigger valves, and bigger cams means more air and more power, the CMV is for more torque at low engine speed. In fact it should be equal to or above considering the current 5.0 GT engine is making closer to 425-430 HP.

Then why have a poll?

Anyway I voted 430-440 just because I think they want to leave room for improvements, so they'll purposely overlook areas they can improve til later models and refreshes. I hope its 450 or higher though. The Mustang Engineer on Leno said "significant" power increase would be announced, so we'll see.

I'll put my bet at ~440 rated HP, and it will be shown on dynos to be closer to 450. Leaves room for another 30-40 with DI and more room for a special edition with higher redline and DI (closer to 500 rated).

Can't wait to take one out for a test drive in the cold to see if it hooks up better and is more stable than my 2014. I'm amazed how it just wants to light up 285 width tires in 4th gear getting on the highway.

Ford's probably is still doing final tuning, tweaking and certifying, so the final power numbers are likely not nailed down yet, so it would be folly to announce specific numbers prematurely at this point only to have to walk them back should they prove wrong. Recall that brouhaha about the 1999 Cobras erroneous power numbers, Ford will never risk touting an inaccurate power number again.

That all said, given the stated hardware specs, I'd guess the HP rating will be close to or even a touch above the Boss's but with a plumper torque curve and rating. I'll guess 450hp/415 torques.

I voted 430-440. The upgrades they have mentioned support those numbers IMO!

That's the same thing I said about th weight and the valves and cams are from the boss. 302 read the fine print less than 440hp and I has a poll to see what the mustang community thinks as a whole

And to quote u again look at the c7 stingray not a vette fan but they came out of box saying 450hpish. I'm just saying without a boss 302 ish intake or di it's very unlikely they will surpass the boss 302s 444hp
And those charge motion plates can go away as well

Hell they said they 99 cobra was a significant increase but my guess is if they can get 435hp out of it and hold di for the future I'm shocked they didn't have do though and the chief engineer is just added hype

It was stated to be more than that.
How much, we'll have to wait and see.

I know you did, I was paraphrasing you. Guess you didn't see the or get the joke.

Obviously it will make more power. And I think it will weigh less. I have faith in Ford's engineers.

Agreed. I think its still too early. When they do come out, though, don't be surprised if they state it low, and revise it like they did for the Shelby. IIRC that went from 650 to 662 very quickly.
