I have seen the 2014 production-ready Mustang.
It was in one of my dreams a few nights ago. Actually, they were in my dream. Oddly enough it looked like a mixture between the Guigiaro concept and a foxbody hatchback. Not a mentally exciting combination, I admit, but in my dream it was wickedly appropriate and worked well. I guess the dream was fed by the mentions of futuristic design with smaller proportions...

A lot of these renderings look awesome, but keep in mind that the body will be used for the ~$22,000 V6's, too. Those renderings look like supercars, which I am 100% sure we will never see on a low $20k vehicle.
Concept renderings always look cool, until the company realizes the production costs. I remember when the Camaro looked good in drawing..

Heres the start of a Cobra version of the car.
The nose is changed (the lower fascia is kinda wonky right now)
Headlights and hood are a bit different and the wheels are different.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but with everything pointing to a smaller Mustang, it might not be a bad idea to look at the basic dimensions of the 370Z. It's about 20" shorter in length and 350-400lbs lighter than the latest Mustang. That'd be close to a 10% reduction in size of they could figure a way to shoehorn the 5.0 under the hood.
Edit: Although, the 370Z doesn't really come with backseats... I guess there's that... lol

Retro or not, Euro or not, that is sexy. But I just don't think any low $20k car will ever look like that. Wow, nice rendering. I'd take that over any Lambo any day.
I posted that image some time back guess it's been speeding.
