What's the back look like?
That's what I see. Coming from some new guy outta the blue, I don't buy it.

I have CS5, but this was done by hand using black and white charcoals.

I'll post the original.

This is the crux of the design speculation - just what is "traditional"? Is it the long hood/short deck, the swooped roofline, open mouth grille, tri-bar taillights, side scalop?

No doubts there will be proportion changes in certain key surfaces, but it still is an area of uncertainty and discussion about what makes a Mustang look "like a Mustang".

The front end could be a little more squared off. The front bumper and headlights form a round front end which doesn't say mustang.

Shark nose is a key component. The first 10 years established definite lines.
The II, Fox, and the underbite/darth vader SN95 have their fans, but that square front wasn't true.

Exactly - when I hear people say "looks like a Mustang", it's the early years, which then people say "retro" when it actually says "unforgettable and distinctive" :-)

I like this one. The ultra long-nose look of the silver one is just too Merc SLS/SLR supercar for the rumoured Mustang spin-off, but the sketch is very good looking and more "realistic".

Just going to throw this out there... Could you all imagine a shaker coming through the hood or a torque thrust/bullitt style wheel?

I honestly can't that much. It doesn't bother me a whole lot bc I know ford will make a great looking mustang. But I just wondered what you all think.

Nice drawing by the way op!

Let's face it, no matter what design Ford produces for the 2015 mustang, your not going to make all mustang fans happy. If it were up to some, the design would never change. I love my 11 body style too but its about time Ford redesigned the stang. Its time to move forward and take on another new breed of stang. If Ford wants to take back being # 1 on the pony wars, then retro has to be no more.

Well, since someone addressed the "old fart" question, let me say, as an old fart, I like it. The Aston is one of the most beautiful cars out there. With that said, I just purchased a 2013 GT/CS. I was going to wait for a '15, but figured I wouldn't be ready for one until the second year, and by then, being an old fart, I may be dead.

to me if it looks like those renderings then it becomes another cookie cutter car and loses it`s heritage ... i dont think the camaro and challenger will be so quick to move away from their current platforms .. if it dont say " mustang" then dont make it ...

Yeah - why did they even bother with the S197. What a marketing disaster. It didn't sell and nobody followed suit and resurrected any pony cars.

You can hate on retro all you want but if you're just going to make a car - that has no Mustang DNA, hell... why not just kill the Mustang and call it a Probe or something.

It needs to change...only because it needs to keep moving forward.
that doesn't mean it can't keep within its heritage or what others call its 'retroness'

The only reason why people called it retro..is becaue we were 'treated' to all the departures from the lineage.
