Set myself up for this one. Even the wife and kids are dropping "oh , and you're old into conversation."

Yeah, I think for many nowadays, the definition of a great audio system is simple one that is very loud and very convenient, not necessarily one that produces the best quality sound/music reproduction (that tends to fall into the "good enough" category.)

You young whipper-snappers with your new-fangled stereo turntables disgust me. Bring back the gramophone, I say!

I just took a trip to San Jose from Las Vegas, there and back I used my iPhone plugged into the aux in the whole way, no radio (I hate channel surfing) and no CD's. 1700 songs on my phone, I was good the whole time.

CD player delete

I'll keep my CD player. Ipod, mp3, etc all have very inferior sound quality. Sometimes I sit PARKED is my car and desire to hear music, not inferior reproduction of
music.

CD's, I have 850 plus of them. Been buying them since '85 (when they came out BTW). 1st thing to go in my '90 GT was that crappy cassette deck from the factory. On my '11 I've been the hard drive route with MP3's. Album and song selection is problematic with a 6 speed and 3.73's. Sirius/XM sound quality sucks, worse than the old cassette tape hiss. When I buy my 2016 GT350, if no CD, I'll pay some one to install it. Yes, I'm old school (think Pioneer Super Tuners and Jensen 6x9's). But a spirited cruise in one of my Mustangs just ain't the same without a CD to pop in that slot.

Guitar you are correct. Mine has that very same single cd slot.

How big is your drive? Does it work well as far as searching for tunes?

Its 8gig, with 1/3 left on the drive.
As soon as the talking head..."Chatty Cathy"...in our household, sees it, your voice commands will operate it no problem. The sound quality prolly isn't exactly on par with a cd, but it sounds good to me, and you can pick a genre, artist, and even a specific song.

You have to have or get a "ripping" software, to extract the music from the cd. As long as you don't do it for sale, its just like we used to do, taping the vinyl to a cassette.
