Can I post this again, in the hope that Ford are reviewing these forums and it's not too late.........

This comes from the recent Popular Hotrodding article that featured renderings from Sean Smith.

http://www.popularhotrodding.com/fea...g/viewall.html

This is his interpretation of a "Kinetic" Mustang. And that profile is perfect.

I don't like this one as much, but it's his interpretation of an Evos-themed Mustang. It's good looking, but doesn't scream Mustang to me.

The red one or the grey one? The grey one SCREAMS modern Mustang to me......the red one is just a nice coupe, but not a nice Mustang.

To be frank, the Grey one just looks like a heavily refreshed 2012. In 2015, its not going to be new enough.

Whoa, Moosetang and I see eye to eye here. It's just going to have to be very different. A new take on the Mustang. As unfortunate as that may well seem.

Hopefully the design team is smarter these days.
Really? Maybe you missed the introduction of the Coyote 5.0L V-8; the 650-horsepower 5.8L V-8 that you'll be able to find in the upcoming Shelby GT500? This isn't the 1970's and based on what Ford had done with the Mustang in 2005 and again in 2011 (that model as well as the 2013 MY 'Stang look absolutely nothing like a Pinto or Fusion), I have no fear that the 2015 model will be everything we're hoping it'll be. Mustang is an extremely important nameplate for Ford and they know they can't screw this up.

I agree and feel that was the problem with the 2010-12 (and probably the '13, too) model -- it wasn't different enough when compared to the 2005-09 model. I don't think Ford will make that mistake again.

It wasn't a mistake. No company can afford to start with a completely fresh chassis design every couple years...well they can if the car cost 6 figures but not at Mustang prices. 2015 will be all new new chassis new IR suspension the only hold over may be some engines. Now if they make it look old it will be a market place failure.

It's not the chassis design I was referring to. Stylistically, Ford didn't deviate very far with the 2010 Mustang from the once-very-successful-albeit-competition-less 2005-09 and that cost them severely, especially in light of the "cool," fresh 2010 Camaro. Ford could have changed things up a bit more, stylistically IMO, without breaking the bank in MY 2010, retaining the S197 platform. It's all moot now, though, and I feel Ford will do everything in their power to retain the sales crown with the 2015 Mustang.

Agreed. I think Ford will be going full on modern both with the Mustang's styling, which will clearly reflect Mustang stylistic DNA without being so wistfully retro, and the chassis, which will be 21st century world class rather than well refined but ultimately limited yestertech (live axle).

The 2010 refresh was just that, a refresh of an existing platform and body, and thus was somewhat limited as to how far they could go. That said, I do somewhat agree that Ford didn't go as far as they could with that refresh, especially with fresh new pony car challengers hitting the streets. Probably a "don't fix it if it ain't broke" conservatism which reflected a pre-Camaro world was at play here.

That and it was probably a Ford Design B-Team that got the assignment, as reflected in a number of awkward and not well resolved design elements (heavy, lumpy rear for one), and they were told not to stray too far off the reservation while the A-Team started work on the '15.

I think the 2010 thru 12 has a modern look to it. It looks like an evolved modern Mustang. In fact I would not call todays Stang RETRO I would coal it Post-Modernist.

Tilt to open rear quarter windows (again why not?)
Contrast stitching

Performance:
Ecoboost 4 or 6 cylinder models
High power v8 for GT and Boss models
Re-tweaked supercharged motor for GT500
Manumatic style tranny for auto (with rev matching)
Close ratio manual trannies
Functional hood designs (scoops, vents)
Functional side scoops (cool rear brake temp)
Brake cooling ducts standard on Boss/GT500
Torsen Diff. Standard on all models
9" rear on Boss and GT500

I will add to that LOSE the 1st to 4th CRAP. If I wanted an auto I would buy an auto. Manual mean MANUAL.

Oh yah and the Sunroof/T-top.....Not likely..it would cut into the Vert Sales.
