I don't get how you could feel like this car is slow, I drive mine a lot. It's still fast to me. My caddy has a 300 hp north star and it's slow, I mean really slow compared to my 5.0. But I'd put my caddy up against an 04 civic for titles any time. Are we really talking about this?

Every now and then I would get the impression that my '11 GT was low on power, or that it just wasn't fast anymore. I'm a wee bit OCD, so I was constantly in fear that my rampant way of driving had caused something to break.

A quick line up / dusting of an SS or G8 GT always reassured me. That or leaving a set of thick black stripes when going into third...

There is a thread somewhere about resetting the throttle calibration by slowly pressing the accelerator to the floor with ignition on but engine not running. Any thoughts that this could be part of Will's problem? Just an uneducated shot in the dark.

Only reason the 5.0 might seem slow is the car is so refined and quiet.

wow you really kicked up a $hitstorm with this question. The only reason you're getting all this ribbing is because it looks like you didn't do your homework before you bought your car and your general lack of experience driving and all things automotive. Like mustang pilot says, a larger car will feel smoother and more refined, so you may not think you're going that fast. I get that feeling too until I accelerate at a light and see nothing but headlights way off in the distance in my rear view mirror. and yes, you do need to rev these motors, don't be afraid of that. If you're concerned about gas mileage, trade it in now, before gas hits $4+ a gallon.

Wow.. I can't see a Civic, any Civic, ever.. passing the 5.0 in Trq. anywhere in the power band.

Are you sure you bought a GT? The 'other-half' has a 3.7 and I agree it's a complete dog below 3k, but picks up nicely after.

Try riding in a Civic with ear plugs in and watching the speedometer.. then do the same in the Mustang.

Well, you're only right assuming you only mean naturally aspirated stock-engine Civic's. A boosted Civic can reach stratospheric power levels, just like any other car

^^^This may actually help. When I drive my wife's Odyssey her Garmin goes flying off the dash (she has one of those beanbag mounts) because I am used to burying my foot more. Many Hondas (& other lesser cars with fewer than 412 pulse-pounding horsepower) have more aggressive throttle tip-in, making them SEEM like they're quicker, but the reality is that they're only quicker to 5 mph.

as an example of my point, a friend with a Toyota pick-up and a Honda Civic Dull Soul drove my car once, and he too was surprised it didn't snap his neck more. He said that the longer he drove it, the more he was able to 'calibrate' his ankle/foot to get a little more out of it.

Maybe this is something Ford did on purpose, to help keep us from shredding the rear tires until we got to know our cars better?

Yup

We've all seen those insane rice rockets at the track.. but the only thing stock about them is the H emblem.

Mine doesnt feel as fast as it used to. 16k miles. Low end torque sucks and it seems it doesnt pull anywhere as fast as it did. I uad fluid swaps and i had my battery disconected a few times. Im not sure what the hell happened, but my stang feels very sluggish.

Drive another car for a week, then get back in your car.
My tranny was getting worked on for a week, I was in a rental 4cyl.
I got back into my car and chirped the tires leaving the lot by accident.
Oh, how I missed you baby.

Are you short shifting this car or are you in the correct gear? I'm not sure whats up but no Civic has anything on these cars.

How about a stock block, stock tranny junker with a $300 ebay turbo on it against a stroked, built, nitrous CTS-V?

Fast forward to about 1:30 and watch the hilarity ensue. Then on to about 2:40 when they talk to him.

I love the camera man's reaction.

This Thread can't be for real .

My Son has a 07 Civic Si. It doesn't compare in anyway to my V-6 Mustang.
