Why does my car feel so under powered?

First I want to say, I came from an 04 civic automatic that I driven for 3 years. That was my first car and this is my second. I have the 3.31 gears and no performance mods or tunes. I'm afraid to void the warranty if I give it a tune. I have the 2012 GT stick. Under 3.5K RPM the car feels slow with barely any acceleration. Revving it past 4.5k RPM and yeah it takes off, I don't understand why I have to rev it that high and waste gas to get descent acceleration. I will go as far as to say, under 3k RPM my civic felt faster. I guess I will HAVE to get a bama tune or whatever cause I feel like I'm using a lot of gas but getting poor acceleration. Anyone else feel this way? any way to improve it?
Mine didn't feel as quick as I hoped/expected until I got about 2000 miles on it...and part of that was me figuring out how to keep it in the power band. Now Im 100% certain that this is the fastest stock car I had ever driven.
Keep with it...unless there's a real problem with your car, you have a real rocket ship there.
If it still feels slow or you're getting dusted off by WRXs, make an appointment with your Ford dealership.
BTW, the 3.31s are fine. They'll give up a bit to the 3.73s in some circumstances but they're better in others.

LOL, I've owned a Civic Si, a CRX-Si, 3 or 4 other Civics, 2 Accords (1 w/244hp v6), a CRV, an Odyssey, a 255hp Maxima SE, an Acura Legend GS, a 72 Vette, a BMW 540 6-speed, & I'm sure I'm leaving out some, & I just want 2 say that my 2012 GT is totally stock in drivetrain & IS WICKED FREAKIN FAST. This thread is a laff riot.

Wow...what can I say. The Coyote 5.0L makes more tq just off idle than the civic regarding the model throughout the whole rpm range. Just off idle the 5.0L coyote motor is making well over 200+ft/lbs of tq...I would guess that the reason you feel this is that the midrange and top end come on so strong that it makes the car feel a little lethargic, while in reality its scooting.

Those V-Tecs can be be peppy...... Stay hard on the pedal of a 5.0 Coyote and all those comparisons will go away. Just be careful. The new 5.0 Mustang is really a different animal!! Drive Safe.

The Civic's also have a "final drive" of around 4.30 or higher so you get into the "meat" of the torque curve quicker. Get gears if you want to be quicker off the line.

Please don't start another thread about how bad your gas mileage is because you're driving the car at 5K RPMs constantly. If you don't feel like you're moving fast with the engine at that level, either you're not pushing the pedal hard enough, you're dead, or your previous car was a Bugatti Veyron. And an '04 Civic ain't a Bugatti. Personally, this car is plenty **** fast even if you keep it between 2,000 and 3,500, which I do in normal daily commuting.
